1. I've said exactly this for quite some time. Expanding on Adrian's @sillyputty78.bsky.social point on X / Twitter here, Covid-19 has three distinct characteristics as a disease that enables it to be denied at a societal level.

If COVID resulted in everyone getting harmless, untreatable, utterly gross pustules covering their entire face for weeks we wouldn't still be in a pandemic.

It is interesting how the CDC recently changed the graphic to explain the #H5N1 spread without explicitly acknowledging it is an airborne virus. Lack of transparent communication did not help with the previous pandemic. Before and After. See the difference? We always knew #H5N1 generates aerosols.

Coming from biodefense, it's absolutely staggering to me that not very long ago if H5N1 (until very recently a Select Agent) had been found in retail raw milk, the response from the government would have been fast and aggressive. Now the response is 'don't drink raw milk'.

Almost everything you might do for fun CAN be done while wearing a respirator. You can “live your life” while protecting yourself an others. You can’t “live your life” the same way once you’re chronically ill. Wearing a respirator will seem like a small sacrifice compared to losing your health.
