interesting that conservatives were militantly “we must reward hustle” when the target was affirmative action at elite universities and now, when faced with the success of south asians and other groups, it is “i think we are too meritocratic”

Rebuilt the Obtuse Angler into something less chunky and more streamlined. There might be a bit more room for improvement, but I think I'm mostly happy with it. #NoMansSky

Some takma myths claim that the Brightness is what happened when Uvuun, the Devourer, who lives in the abyssal depths of the sea, realized He could not bring death to those far inland, and so drew the moisture away toward Himself to make the land itself inimical to life. (cont'd)

The xtauh of the Brightness tend to fall into two general categories. The pastoralists are based around oases and/or cooler, somewhat less arid highlands; they spend the day season there, where they lay and hatch their eggs, while in the night seasons they drive their herds to the lowlands (cont'd)

#FieldsOfMistria #MinokawArt #UmaMusume I think it's funny that we have this magic horse and you can't interact with any characters unless you dismount it. That led me to think what if Juniper is the only one who can see us mount our Mistmare? Does everyone else just us going ludicrous speeds? 1/2
First page of comic. First panel: Juniper walks in the town square. Second Panel: The farmer on the Mistmare rushes by nearly knocking her over. Third Panel: Olric says "Wow, they sure are fast these days!" Juniper looks startle and thinks "Is that a magic horse???" Fourth Panel: Juniper hesitantly points a finger towards the farmer in the distance. "Yes...almost HORSE-like speed." 1/2Second page of a comic. First Panel: Olric is in a thinking pose. "Horse-like? Hm...now that you mention it..."
Second Panel: A large image of the farmer sprinting with horse ears and tail. Olric continues. "There IS something horse-like about them." 2/2

The continent of Sekhaa is about the size of Asia, and a very large chunk of its interior north of the equator is occupied by a vast desert called the Brightness. Its southern reaches are crossed by a number of rivers, but the further north you go, the drier and more forbidding it becomes. (cont'd)

#NoMansSky Inspired by, though considerably less streamlined than, @jakkothepumpkin.bsky.social 's fishing ship. Might take it apart later and try to reassemble it in a less chunky manner. Still, it does pretty well in a general-purpose role as well as a fishing platform.

The major intelligent species of Avishraa are subject to thalassophobia for evolutionary reasons, so sea traffic was almost entirely coastal until fairly recent times and it's only in the last generation or two that anyone's made it to another continent - the sea remains sparsely explored. (cont'd)

On Avishraa, magic-users - at least those thought of as magic-users - are born with the ability. You either have it or you don't, and the ones who do are in a tiny, tiny minority. Combined with the fact that they can and do cause a lot of damage, especially if there's no one around (cont'd)

Among the dominant species of Avishraa, there's no nudity taboo; for commoners, clothes are worn mainly for protection, from weather/climate, job hazards, etc. and will use whatever local materials are suitable. For fashion, they're more apt to use jewelry: rings, pendants, bracelets/anklets. (1/2)

I'm often tempted to answer #worldbuilding prompts as with #AugustWorldbuilders, only to realize I have no idea how. Because I worldbuild for worldbuilding's sake, the answer to any given question is likely to be "it depends very much on where you're talking about" or "there *is* no main character".
