It's wild to me how permissive people are when it comes to AI. They wouldn't tolerate fuckups like this for anything else! If my car sometimes tried to drive itself through schools, I would get rid of that fucking car rather than try to work around it.

The main source of that is agricultural runoff or sewage issues, and no matter how much you hate data centers, at no point are all the electronics shitting in the water cooling system. It's an obvious groundwater contamination/water treatment problem. If Amazon left, the problem would still exist!

Yup. Hell, the reason I'm on an "AI Boosters" list is because I pointed out that the Amazon data center in the northwest wasn't the culprit for rising cancer rates. Because they'd already been rising before it got there and had already been traced to elevated nitrates/nitrites in the water.

They're unfortunately right, in the sense that unless Dems somehow pull off a 2/3 majority in both chambers, any attempt to end the Iran war would likely be vetoed and the GOP's unlikely to help override. But, counterpoint: Fuck 'em, pack as many Dems in there as possible.

At least from the last thing I read, the numbers aren't TOO different, the biggest problem is that the government's ability to trace the source of any given contamination has been absolutely gutted. So we probably have more people getting sick before we can pinpoint what caused it.
