Found it, and it was Grakkus the Hutt
Comic panel of a large, unusually muscular hutt (a slug-like alien with arms) looming over Luke Skywalker, about to knock him the fuck out.

You really have to hand it to them, they did a hell of a job.
Black and white photograph showing the HNLMS Abraham Crijnssen in its "island" disguise, with an actual jungle island behind it. The combination of foliage on the decks and superstructure of the ship plus the additional paint job on the exposed portions of the hull make it difficult to notice at first glance, and effectively make the entire upper half of the ship disappear into the background. If viewed from a distance, the ship would be practically undetectable against such a background.

The water line, connected to a fire hydrant on private property, was responsible for the massive leak, according to city officials. The business involved, Athlon BT, specializes in mobile data centers for AI storage and Bitcoin mining, which are equipped with air- and water-cooling technology.

The local jackrabbit has figured out how to get onto the back wall, presumably because it knows things can't get to it up there.
An adult jackrabbit with mostly ashy / dusty coloration save for some light brown patches on the front legs and back of the neck.

Its looking quite pleased with itself as it surveys the backyard from a 5 foot elevated wall with other plants providing additional cover should it want to hide.

However, it does not want to hide, it wants you all to bask in the glory of its presence.

More free yard care now that the rain and hail has stopped. There's also a few hummingbirds and a squirrel out and about somewhere back here.
Another cottontail, happily munching away at some grass after a rainstorm. The same cottontail as before, still happily nibbling away at the overgrown back lawn. Its a mix of grass and clover, giving the little guy plenty of fresh greens to snack on.

Bonus to having to step outside to get nicotine at the new place: Not living in a scorching desert anymore means I sometimes have visitors.
A cottontail (unsure of which species) sitting on a grass and clover yard, visible just over the edge of the rear deck.A cottontail relaxing in the shade of the same yard. It had a busy afternoon of cleaning its paws and nibbling on things, so it needed the break.

Not exactly thrilled about this part, why on earth would AI be any better at this than it is everything else?
Snipped text from the AP article in the original post. It reads:

Instead, the court ordered Meta to continue to improve its age assurance tools in New Mexico, which include using artificial intelligence to determine people’s age based on signals such as who their friends are and what types of content they post and consume. Meta must also attempt to develop a dedicated “under-13-years-of-age prediction model” in the next two years.

Semi-related, but I've been laughing to myself about the (I assume) unintentionally hostile caption under an image for it in German wikipedia.
An old, slightly ecorative doorknob on the door of Quedlinburg Cathedral showing a slight patina due to its age, in the shape of a pig dog.

For reasons unknown, the auto-translated caption under the picture simply reads "bastard"

I would love to hear their explanation for how Beaver's Mini-Mart, in addition to the alleged trademark infringement, also made "false designation of origin, false or misleading descriptions or representations of fact, and unfair competition" Because this is the place in question:
Photo source: https://www.daytondailynews.com/local/they-were-here-first-community-blasts-buc-ee-s-lawsuit-against-beaver-s-mini-mart/article_6997070e-d3ac-5d54-a9b0-707aef1a3ed0.html

Photograph showing resident Maria Thornton holding her hand up to display the front signage of Beaver's Mini Mart, which in no way resembles the Buc-ee's own signage beyond a cartoon beaver being involved. It's worth noting that the Ohio business chose that name because it's in a place called Beavercreek.

Really wish Phillips responded to the request for comment, because I'd love to know why he's under the impression criminals aren't already aware that cameras to read your plate exist. Like, there's a whole market for things to put over the plate to prevent this (all illegal, and usually don't work)
Snippet from the article, which is part of a larger quote from Sheriff Don Phillips defending the use of Flock cameras and the policy to avoid mentioning their use:

"It is common practice for law enforcement to refrain from disclosing investigative methods and sources to prevent criminals from learning how to circumvent them."

That's...not the paragraph where he pulled that quote, bud.
Disney in April cut about 1,000 employees in marketing functions across Disney’s studios, TV networks, ESPN, product and technology, and corporate groups. At the time, newly appointed Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro said in a memo to employees, “Over the past several months, we have looked at ways in which we can streamline our operations in various parts of the company to ensure we deliver the world-class creativity and innovation our fans value and expect from Disney. Given the fast-moving pace of our industries, this requires us to constantly assess how to foster a more agile and technologically-enabled workforce to meet tomorrow’s needs.”

Good lord, even the slop machines over at Youtube are falling apart. Also, be grateful you can't hear the looped 4 second horn section, it gets real fuckin' old real fast.
Don't even know where to begin with this one, considering the video is of two white tigers in some grass, the text says what you're ACTUALLY looking at is a pelican trying to eat a capybara, and the footage in the background behind it all appears to be somebody vacuuming hanging fabric.

For reasons unknown, the actual title of the short at least seems to be aware of what's in it ("The Most Confused White Tiger Face Ever!"), even if the rest of the short is talking about pelicans.

Though I did get a good laugh out of this, since one of the things she announced while there was that she was gonna try to host a UK version of CPAC
Nigel Farage will snub a major conference of US conservatives that is being brought to the UK by Liz Truss.

The short-lived former prime minister, who was accused of crashing the economy, was chosen by the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to lead a version of the event in the UK in July.

She announced this on stage in Texas on Monday while next to Matt Schlapp, commentator and chair of the event, which in the US has hosted major figures including Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Tulsi Gabbard and Hungary’s Viktor Orbán.

However, mainstream conservative figures in the UK seem wary to be associated with the Truss-led event.

“We will be steering well clear of it,” a Reform UK source said, dashing any hopes that Farage would attend.

Jacob Rees-Mogg, a prominent Conservative and former minister in Truss’s cabinet, is also understood to have no interest in making an appearance.

A spokesperson for Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the Conservative party, said she has “no plans” to show up.

My good, polite boy having a Normal conversation with some new friends, because this really is the kind of thing that he gets up to when he's not having to fight weird cults / bad guys.
Look I really don't know where to even begin to explain the three people/monsters he's talking to. One of them is a 10 foot tall muscular man with what can only be described as an earless, demonic elephant head. Another is a seven foot tall cross between a Cyclops and a giant man-eating potato that never misses gym day, and the third looks like a giant rock with rainbow-striped tentacles coming out of it. But they really are trying to have a normal conversation, at least!

"I'm really sorry. I've never seen, I mean, MET anything like you."

What's a comic I wanna see as a movie? Easy, and since it was even originally intended to be a limited miniseries, it's that little bit easier to adapt:
Image of Simon Dark on the rooftops of Gotham City at night. Simon is an artificial being, made from a mixture of sewn-together human remains and magic. He is holding a bloody garrote and wearing his typical outfit: A black and red striped shirt, a long dark coat, and a mask that looks like it was stitched together out of pieces of other people's faces (in reality, it's a normal mask, and it looks that way because Simon doesn't actually have a face and wanted to appear human).

Went down a rabbit hole after seeing this comment, figured I'd share a finding. Wish I had a source for what the page is from, but it's just the image file floating around the internet. The bolts are apparently nonsensical mishmash because they were added to the display for effect, not original.
First page of an article from an unknown publication showing the same helmet pierced by bolts and accompanying drawing, with slightly more detail on the origins. It also confirms the bolts shown with the helmet were not actually from the same discovery, but assembled after the fact for display from unrelated bolt heads found elsewhere.

Wrong definition. Look at the third one (though 1b is definitely related).
Screenshot of Merriam Webster's definition of entitlement, including the relevant meaning used in this conversation.

Social Security is an entitlement program, which isn't a bad thing. See definition 3:

1
a
: the state or condition of being entitled : right
b
: a right to benefits specified especially by law or contract
2
: belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges
3
: a government program providing benefits to members of a specified group
also : funds supporting or distributed by such a program

Just to illustrate that point: Here's an event that spawned some particularly infamous conspiracy theories, as well as what a lot of people consider the origin point of yellow journalism. In fucking 1898.
Reproduced / colorized image showing an artistic interpretation of the destruction of the US Battleship Maine in 1898, with a forward magazine explosion splitting the ship in half and launching men and debris skyward.

William Randolph Hearst and others in the US were quick to blame the Spanish and widely circulate conspiracy theories and tales of completely fictional events for the sole purpose of spurring the US to go to go to war with Spain, including tales of Spanish sabotage and/or treachery being to blame for what was far more likely a spontaneous combustion event in a coal bunker due to the switch to bituminous coal, which subsequently ignited a nearby ammunition magazine.

When they respond to anything like police shootings, at most it's usually just a "hey, that's bad," I've never actually heard of them doing anything. This time around it was just to tell off a federal prosecutor and then say we should wait for an investigation. NRA doesn't actually do much.

There's also plenty of jokes in the video that obviously can't be present in the song itself, and one of them is a caption that now lives eternally in my head:
