"Heeeey!" Waves one half of the couple with their free hand, while their other reassuringly guides their shy partner in by the shoulder. The more outgoing person has a shaved head with a big poof of curly bangs in front. They wear fingerless gloves, big round glasses, petite earrings, and a t-shirt tucked into their belted pants. Their shy companion also has a shaved head and ear piercings, in addition to a labret stud, studded dog collar around their neck and tank top straps visible through the neck of their baggy t-shirt.

Sliding over a name tag on the tabletop, Dastardly_devil asks the nervous guy, "First time?"

"Y-yes." They answer, sweating.

"WELCOME!" Dastardly_devil booms jovially, and then gestures at a sign on the wall. "Here are the rules:"

The sign lists:
-No play
-No touching another without consent
-No kinkshaming
-Keep the name tag on.

"If you're too shy to talk," He continues. "I can introduce you. If you have any questions or troubles, come talk to me!"

Gathering some courage, the shy guy ventures, "...What does 'no play' mean?"

The confident friend is eagerly filling out a name tag as Dastardly_devil answers, "Play is when people practice BDSM or kink. This event is a munch, it's only for meeting and talking."

"See," The confident friend says as they affix the name tag to the shy person. "I told ya!"

Looking somewhat relieved but still sweating, the shy friend answers, "Oh, Ok..."

Draping themself over their shy friend, the extrovert bemoans, "There's only play events in our town. We haven't dared go yet."

"Ah, it can be intimidating. But a munch is a good place to start!" The devil encourages.

"Wish it was closer though..." Groans the extroverted person.

"You could always make your own event, you know." Suggests Dastardly_devil.

"EEEEEH, REALLY?" They answer.

My first release, "FTM Stands For Fujoshi to Male", is a 48-page zine offering analysis of the fujoshi-to-trans-man pipeline from my observations as a queer trans man and a hobby subject scholar. This was my DZF bestseller and I'm really proud of it! Priced at $6 for digital.

Caption: Like many people born in the late nineties, the first queer media I consumed was citrus-scale 'boy x boy' fanfiction on FF.net. On the family computer. In the computer room.

Corresponding illustration is a young teenager with long, curly dark hair sitting in an office chair, sat in front of a still image of a 1990's computer desk setup.

Caption, text block: If "trans men only transition to become sexy anime boys" is the setup, the punchline usually goes something like: "and then are surprised when testosterone makes them fat, hairy, balding, and ugly." Not only is the hypothetical trans man presented as foolish, but that testosterone itself can only (emphasized) make him an ugly man, as divine and karmic penance for trying to be a man in the first place.
