One of the first mecha BL works shown at Comiket was from a rather large Grendizer FC. Daimos had such a massive community of both fujos and non-fujos "shipping" that Tadao Nagahama funded events where they could meet up and make friends. I don't think its fair to say the latter due to Gundam imo

People talk a lot about foot fetishists, but nobody talks about how artists are all sickos for hands. Anyone who draws the human form regularly goes absolutely wolf-howl sicko mode over a well drawn hand. It's like an entire body on it's own, artists are out here hubba-hubba-ing and awooga-ing

Hey #PortfolioDay! I make art where I am very passionately perverted about beautiful mecha and beautiful people 😳 My current main focus is my mecha comic Blade of Seafoam, but I am also open to commission and project work!

Hello, it's #PortfolioDay ! I am Ronan, a.k.a Dofresh, a freelance concept artist and illustrator making mostly scifi things for movies, video games and books. It used to be an industry, believe it or not.

A group of scifi-ish mechanics dressed in red, worshiping a giant battle mech and its female pilot.

A young girl in school outfit, with a bass guitar, among rubbles and derelicts of pink robots.

A group of scifi soldiers, in a menacing alien swamp.

A group of robots and tanks, charging, in a WW1 flavored trench.

Idk if I'll resume Blade of Seafoam webcomic updates on Tapas since the site is going down in March... Weekly free-to-read updates will continue on Webtoon and on my social media accounts though! And I'll make Volume 2 available on Hoopla if you have an account, since I get royalties from that ^^

Volume 2 of Blade of Seafoam by @diurnaldays.bsky.social dropped today and it continues to deliver one of the coolest trans man protagonists, equally cool mechs, and peak "do whatever you want forever" indie energy. ➡️ blog post: caedestyles.wordpress.com/2026/10/08/b...

Screenshot of a blog post tagged "indie feature" and "transmasc media", titled "Blade of Seafoam and unapologetic storytelling". Features a cropped image of Toshiaki and Axellion from the Blade of Seafoam Volume 2 cover. Caption reads: "An ongoing sci-fi mecha comic featuring a trans man protagonist (and his romance with one of the most stunning guys you’ll ever see in your life)."

It's Trans Day of Visibility, so I'm gonna outright say that the original mecha comic I'm releasing next month features a trans male protagonist who has to grapple with what strength and masculinity personally mean to him #bladeofseafoam

Front cover artwork for Blade of Seafoam Volume 1 by Diurnal Days. The cover artwork is a full color illustration of Toshiaki Mizushima in his mecha pilot suit standing in waist-deep ocean water with his back to the viewer with water droplets running down his body. In the background, the XG-01 Bhairava mech rises from the water while holding its trident, ocean water spraying everywhere and running down its body.

Casual sleepwear Axellion, featuring a marketable Bhairava plushie #bladeofseafoam

Digital sketch of Axellion in a striped purple sweatshirt and shorts, polka dotted purple tights, and lion bath slippers. He also has a sleep mask on his forehead and his bangs are pulled back with a hair clip. Axellion was once an Ambassador representing traditional Izanagian performing arts, aka Izanagi-buyo -- a reenactment of Previous Humanity cultural records unearthed deep within the Keys. He was specifically an onnagata cross-dressing performer of short plays for wealthy patrons. #bladeofseafoam

Digital drawing of Axellion kneeling on stage while wearing a white kimono with a black, red, and gold obi sash. His hair is tied up behind his head in an updo secured by hairpins and a comb. He's holding a fan close to his face while smiling coyly at the viewer. The background is a folding screen depicting a stylized pine tree and two biomechanical Keyfauna birds that resemble cranes.

It's totally fine if ppl disagree whether or not my work should use the BL genre tag since it's heavy on plot and action and not sole romance focus, but the occasional dismissiveness toward any plot-heavy sci-fi M/M bothers me Does plot-heavy fantasy and horror BL also get this treatment?

This text is also unique in that it has a Charmuro (Char Aznable x Amuro Ray) depiction in 1981, one that went to Comiket even. All of these novels are illustrated by the mangaka Yuko Ikedo (池戸裕子), who went on to be a very prolific BL novelist.

I end undergrad talks with the annoying 'comics advice' of: you have to sleep, you have to eat, you have to move your body in whatever way works for you, you have to engage with the world outside of your desk and outside of comics entirely. sleep is the foundation!! you can't compromise on that!!
