more than anything i feel like this book crystallised what was most potent ab collins' work to me and the questions she decided to put to her readers the whole series long are really on display here in the most devastating ways. i'm so thankful this book exists. ahhhh

000

i'm actually on the precipice of being on board with the idea of the glorious revolution being as ugly as the people who'd pushed it forward being are bc i think i finally understand what collins was trying to do but on an emotional level i will still never be ok with that choice fjjfjfjf

100

and not to get back into my decade old bone to pick w mockingjay atp lol but it humbles. to see how long the districts have suffered and how hard and bravely they've risen to fight but the answer they were given was someone like coin. like. there's smth cutting ab that and maybe for the first time

100

soft spoilers now but it just as any prequel does really puts it into perspective just how monumental of a win katniss' was - in SO many ways she was just like haymitch, but luckier - and how much of a difference that made. and even helped me understand why the rebellion surged so fiercely w her

100

not to mention how devastating but we knew that but we didn't really. the parallels between him and katniss - and even a little of lucy gray my god my d12 victors are sooo 😭😭 - are just so

100

i think the thing that gets me most ab the latest hunger games installment sotr (no spoilers) rn is like. we knew. we heard about haymitch's games. nothing could've prepared me though for just how absolutely batshit it really was

powerful detailed account of ICE captivity "To put things into perspective: I had a Canadian passport, lawyers, resources, media attention, friends, family and even politicians advocating for me...Imagine what this system is like for every other person in there" www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I’m the Canadian who was detained by Ice for two weeks. It felt like I had been kidnapped

I was stuck in a freezing cell without explanation despite eventually having lawyers and media attention. Yet, compared with others, I was lucky

its the way the manuscript is ab the transformative power of songwriting and the magic created in the universality of a very specific pain/experience that resonates so well with so many people... "at last she knew what the agony had been for" indeed 🫠

000

nowww she wants to go after him when shes never even left her prefecture before when she couldve just told him when they were still tgt ... im not even mad im disappointed

000

theyre BOTH stupid ok they deserve each other fkfnfkffn why is this happening hhhhh

100

oh. my god. i have had IT!!!! notdfnfkjfnfjfkd !!!!!! its over actually

100

mind u if this was a manga like something's wrong with us i'd eat it up & thank the mangaka for the food but the need to sprinkle in a dash of makjang for flavor for end plots will never not amuse me

the way her first thought was to break up not get engaged im ab to go over abd kick her ass for her incurable case of moron

100

the ways i survived all these years of watching noble idiots in kdramas making their nobly idiotic excuses to break up and timeskip get back tgt to then find the same thing in my manga over and over time is a flat circle indeed

100

im sure it'll blow over this chapter or the next and these two will get bacm tgt like it has to right? right?

quick little catullus translation

c. 70

Nūllī sē dīcit mulier mea nūbere mālle
quam mihi, nōn sī sē Iuppiter ipse petat.
Dīcit: sed mulier cupidō quod dīcit amantī,
in ventō et rapidā scrībere oportet aquā.

My woman says that she doesn’t want to get married
to anyone but me, not even if Jupiter himself sought her.
So she says: but what a woman says to her smitten lover
should be written on the wind and on swift-moving water.

every so often im reminded of how much the world hates women lol and i get sick inside all over again

merry christmas, happy holidays, hope that the end of this year brings you all a small spell of warmth, happiness & kindness 🫶

meee 😭 i had to fight for my life wrapping the first two 😭 it did get easier after ,, gift bags are the way to go i fear 😭

merry christmas mono !!! ♥️✨

absolutely!! i do love how in both sophie serves as the grounding force to the craziness of the world around her, her sheer immoveable force of a personality is so lovely ;; i will say the book was so fantastical i actly burst out laughing when it turned out howl was from wales 😭

i still love the movie but its lowk another ella enchanted situation ... they're both diff and both great in their own ways, the og is much better tho 🙊🫣

200

after my reread i uds the whole sophie/howl of it all; howl actly does so many little things for her thru the whole book & its so delightful bc its hidden by his trash fire peacock personality. ughhhh. dwj is a master at details so u are rewarded the more u reread w how much u notice i adore it so

by rs i meant family rs ** sorry bc i loooved sophie & her sisters' rs i thought that was so sweet esp juxtaposed w howl's own contentious one; as an oldest i do relate sm 😭 also the toad sitting in her mind that grows thru the whole book being her finding her own freedom & purpose im js so
