On a positive note - I had Claude go through and make a list of the responsibilities for each office, quiz me on my positions, help me flesh out positions I was unsure about, etc. Didn’t necessarily help choose a candidate in low-information races, but helped me understand the stakes.

In past years I have watched things like recordings from local community forums, but I honestly found those to be relatively low-information, so I'm not sure I will invest the time this year. And it seems like those are unlikely to have distilled into Claude at its current level of development.

But a lot of the results were "there is basically no information for this school board candidate other than a mention that they are running" and (if lucky) some vague policy positions that may not correlate with an ability to govern effectively.

FYI - I did this and Claude did not find any (IMO) particularly useful information for most of the very local races. It was able to give good generalized guidance, e.g. "perhaps electing a Democrat in this role would be good for oversight since they oversee a Republican-led org."

I feel like the pendulum swings back and forth. Loved GPT 3.5 / 4.0, then Haiku / Sonnet, then GPT 4.5, then Opus 4.6 -> Fable, then Sol / Astra, then Opus 5.5, and so on. Seems like they are making mistakes and learning from each other.

We did a version of this for infection. Zombies with energy swords and max speed with low gravity on giant open maps. Terrifying to see a zombie coming at you at 100mph…and hilarious to see them fly half a mile past you when they missed their swing.
