At some point, if what you're saying is true, the evidence has to be forthcoming. Whispering about bogeymen will not work. Accusing people of being abusers because they ask for this becomes evidence that your echo chamber has become a chamber of abuse. You see it everywhere but in yourself.

Addendum: I also think if people repeatedly ask you for legitimate evidence of the thing you're claiming happened and you repeatedly refusing to offer that evidence while expecting everyone to just believe you, that will hasten the creation of that echo chamber.

This is, inevitably, how echo chambers get created. This is also why echo chambers are a problem. If you tend to see everyone else as the enemy and cannot recognize when you yourself are the problem, you're virtually guaranteed to begin hurting people who really aren't your enemy.

Idle thought: If every single person who doesn't nod perfectly at everything you say immediately becomes the enemy, the common problem denominator is you. Over time, that pattern will become visible to everyone around you except a select few who tow the line without thinking about it.

The two films I have my students watch in the first week of my America in the Movies class: Sherlock Jr. (1924; dir. Buster Keaton) 10 Things I Hate About You (1999; dir. Gil Unger) Two comedies at opposite ends of the century. I think they're a fun introduction to movies :D

Sherlock, Jr. (1924; dir. Buster Keaton) is really something else. Not only is the stunt work expectedly incredible, but the whole film-with-a-film sequence is visually remarkable. The moment Keaton walks into the movie screen makes me smile. Glad my students watched this!

The thing I've always loved about the reimagined Battlestar Galactica is how complicated its morality gets as the show goes on, especially regarding the Cylons, their motivations, whether we should sympathize with them, all of it. I can think about this show over and over.

The one thing I wish Battlestar Galactica had more time to develop was the drama surrounding the arrival of the Pegasus and Admiral Cain. Well acted. Intense. A moral nightmare. It's a great story. I just want so much more!
