I love teaching so much, and AI bullshit consistently makes me want to quit my job. Like, I got this job to work with students, not to be the AI police. And the admin passes all the responsibility of dealing with it onto instructors, it sucks.

This kind of thing happens all the time. There's a huge imbalance of what students can talk about and write about vs what teachers can do in response. Personally I think if they are allowed to bring their religious and personal beliefs into the classroom, we should be too.

I was teaching a writing class with some coteachers, and a student posted some anti-trans arguments in our group discussion space. Rather than moderate the space, we shut down the entire group discussion board for multiple classes. Because we can't be seen as "political" as teachers.

AI student writing is such a pain to deal with. Half my class writes in the same AI voice, then denies it when I call them out on it. I don't do this job to be the AI police, and I know it's a symptom of the degradation of education in general rather than the cause, but it's still so frustrating.
