Can we monitor biological changes following severe asthma treatment through a patient’s breath? Our new study shows exhaled breath profiles change within 4 months of initiating biologic therapy. Read the full study: doi.org/10.1016/j.rm... #Breathomics #PrecisionMedicine

Amsterdam UMC studied 54 children with post-COVID condition and found two distinct subtypes based on their breath. One group had older girls with more fatigue and smell loss. Six breath compounds could fully tell the two groups apart. iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1...

Exhaled breath-based clusters in children with post-COVID condition — Shahriyar Shahbazi Khamas et al.
Compared to Cluster 1 (n=38), Cluster 2 (n=16) consisted predominantly of older girls (69%) with a median age of 16 years and exhibited more severe PPCC-related outcomes, including higher PROMIS fatigue scores. Six volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were identified as biomarkers that effectively differentiated the two clusters." "These VOCs, previously reported in the literature, highlight metabolic and inflammatory disruptions and demonstrated high discriminatory performance "

Our new research identified 2 distinct phenotypes of pediatric post-COVID condition using exhaled breath metabolites. In 54 children, unsupervised clustering revealed a more severe phenotype, mainly older girls, with higher PROMIS fatigue score. iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1... #LongCovid

Excited to share our latest research in @AllergyEaaci ! We studied predictors of childhood #asthma attacks: past attacks, salivary #microbiome & serum inflammatory markers. Combined model (history + biology) = ↑ accuracy 📊 Read more: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
