I think there’s many in the parade (and those supporting and volunteering) who share the same sentiments. I was personally looking forward to seeing the Parade come through Parliament on Wellington and sad most of us didn’t get this opportunity. Hats off to the CAF who kept on playing though!

Wouldn't be surprised if you actually arrived faster than drivers not realizing the end-of-days closure of the bridge...that's a monster bike ride BTW!

“We need people to go into politics & not feel threatened. It’s about the health of our democracy because if you want people to go into politics, you can’t expect that they’re going to put up with this and their families are going to put up with it.” My take on security threats to politicians.

It's ironic with the amount of telemetry in these things that their drivers till manage to be halfway into the intersection or close-pass cyclists/pedestrians. Haven't decided if this monstrosity is worse than those dually pick-up trucks that also leave nanometres of space for pedestrians/cyclists.

Rockcliffe is certainly guilty of this. At least the public schools and library have a sidewalk on Springfield...but everywhere else nada. Also, the snow clearing standards have a step function degradation as one crosses over into the boundaries of Rockcliffe...even around the schools/library 🤷‍♂️

I'll say that through my summer training, where I had to don the lycra uniform, I had almost no choice but to ride on the road. For work commutes (where I'm usually not lycra'd up), I'll average 23-26 KM/h (and still get passed!!!)...but for 27 KM/h and up...the road is the only answer IMO.

Between Canadian stand-offs of people in tinted vehicles waving me through the intersection when it's their right-of-way (I can't see you!) or opportunistically avoiding bad drivists, rolling through stops is usually the best solution on the bike.

Pssst…anyone wanna buy a big red 🐄 for 4000 bucks? It’s not eligible for the storewide discount of course…but it’s awfully tempting if it does come down in price substantially 🤣

It is always suddenly about “green space” when people don’t want supportive housing or a shelter near them. This land is zoned industrial, owned by the hospital, and will be used to house and treat people recovering from addictions. I support this project 100% www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

A local group wants plans for a new addiction recovery centre in honour of the Ottawa-raised actor to be halted, as it would eliminate green space in their community. But some who support the project ...

Yup, we've got January to May over the next 96 hours. I'm resigning myself to being excessively hot in the event I exit my house/workplace and it spontaneously reaches 26C 🤣.

After we pretty much posted to Reddit around the same time this AM, I discovered my bike was kept safe and sound in the Games Workshop after being retrieved by the Magic Detective...connected via DM...and the pic is me reunited my my bike. Big thanks to everyone who reached out to help me 🫡❤️🚲👊🏼

The thief (who was spotted by the magic detective) happened to be both shoeless and shirtless!?!? Anyways he bailed on the bike, ate dirt, ran off into the sunset, and left my bike in the middle of the Coliseum Theatre parking lot.

So #ottbike and Reddit Ottawa came through big by reuniting me with my trusty winter bike that I thought was long gone around 7:00 PM last night. I've since deleted the original stolen bike post as Games Workshop's very own r/DetectiveMagicMan recovered it and alerted the world.
Yours truly in bright orange trousers holding my unstolen bike in the air triumphantly in front of Games Workshop!

Yes, it was sadly unlocked but kept inside the front entrance next to the carts for no more than 60 seconds...that's all it took sadly as I popped in quickly to grab a couple of things. It's just shocking how bold and quick people are when you least expect it!

Yup, it is always packed when I've taken it...luckily the 57 is another option and it tends to be less busy (but still a well-used route).

This has been the bane of my existence for the last 27 years (at least that's how long it seems I've been able to do a fully uninterrupted/non-detoured ride from the locks at Parliament to Watts Creek on NCC Paths). The Westboro beach detour has been such a nightmare for #ottbike and I hope it ends!

I really loathe that these times are geared to morning people...there are shift workers and non-morning types (like me 🙋🏻‍♂️) who simply aren't going to find the 0800-1200 weekend times useful at all. I do hope the Summer Zone does come back because 0800-2000 on QED on weekends is a pittance!

I can safely say most of the paths are almost unusable for anyone without studded tires (like yours truly) because they're all covered with super slick black ice patches everywhere. Of course the roads are fine! For my 🏃‍♂️ last night, I was mostly on the roads for this very reason...

That's amazing intel regarding the proper bridge mix. How can you tell the real deal from the awful "improved" kind I was shocked to discover at Metro. The packaging seemed identical...

Voting is harm reduction. We do not vote for perfection but for progress, step by step. If you have to pinch your nose while you do it, then do it. But "They all suck" is defeatist BS that only benefits the worst people in politics.

Kevin O'Leary to @ianhanomansing.bsky.social on Cross Country Checkup, rough quote: "The Canadian dollar has dropped 40% against the US dollar under Trudeau." Fact check: the CAD has dropped 34% from the 2011 peak, but just 4% of that drop happened under Trudeau. The big drop happened under Harper.

Yeah, I don't think people were as thrilled with this ice as previous days...however...I'd imagine it was still way better than anything we've seen in the past 2-3 seasons! I suspect we'll get another solid weekend out of it --> good call on giving the hip a rest (wouldn't have been great on skates)
