I began by checking if there were any OS updates available for the Series 5, but of course not. There was really just one OS version that ever existed: the 1.0.1 (145) that’s running also on this one! Let that sink in. They had just one shot to get […] [Original post on infosec.exchange]

Jon Ritman's Isometric Game Insights | PDF | Areas Of Computer Science | Computing
Jon Ritman provides helpful tips for solving issues with sprite sorting in isometric games. He explains that there is no perfect sorting method, but some tricks can make it work well most of the time, like using a linked list from back-most to front-most sprites. Tall sprites should be split into two entries to prevent sorting issues. Collision detection works by checking if moving edges touch other sprite edges. Push flags indicate collision direction. Walls, floors, doors, and conveyor belts are handled separately due to their static or specialized natures. Ritman clarifies some additional questions about map coordinates, room initialization, and handling of tall/door sprites.

Spotted in Paris:
A photo of a Parisian street, with characteristic Haussmannian buildings in the background. In the foreground, a shop mannequin leans, as though drunk, against a lampost next to a bin. The mannequin is apparently female, but has no head or arms, and its legs are unrealistically thin. Its naked bottom is towards the viewer.

I've just been challenged by a Captcha that refused to confirm I was a human unless I identified the image below as containing a pedestrian crossing. Unfortunately for future self-driving car passengers, the image shows the exclusion zone separating lanes on a major road, possibly a motorway.
A grainy photo of part of a multi-carriage road. The left part of the road is painted with white stripes, and bordered by a crash barrier. Another traffic lane is seen ahead, to the left of the striped area. The context indicates that the striped area is an exclusion zone separating lanes.
