@atpfm And I’ve just learned that @marcoarment has returned to Twitter. That does it for me with the show. I'll miss @siracusa’s thoughts.

I wasn’t sure about Control Resonant based on the trailers, but holy hell this thing is bonkers. Feels incredible. The controls (heh) feel as tight as ever, like coming back home after playing the first game.

A random thought of the day: Even if AI had been invented in a way where no publicly available data had been scraped for free, and it somehow magically ran on any laptop GPU at good speeds, wouldn’t we act the same way as we do now anyway? It would still allow anyone who we wouldn’t consider a […]

The calculator analogy always holds. If you were a bad mathematician, you’d be one with a calculator too. If you didn’t care for how to make good apps, you’ll make bad apps with AI too. LOL people blaming AI for Apple releasing buggy Golden Gate. That company was has had broken processes for […]

Everyone here: “Only vibe code apps for yourself. You don’t ever want to release them to other users. That would be irresponsible.” And then the most followed and boosted posts are as vibe as vibe gets and everyone: “Hells yeah that looks awesome! Where’s the TestFlight?”

Still whenever I loan a PS5 game from a library I feel like I’m stealing something. Like, it can’t be this easy?

I have been doodling (vibing) with an App Store Connect sales tracker app. It’s getting pretty good although I haven’t really identified its killer feature yet. But I can see it being useful. Not sure if I should release this on the stores or not.

People regularly ask here for examples of great Mac apps. I’m too afraid to even reply. Seems like everyone has their own opinion of what “great” means.

Updating your app for iPhone Duo is a good way to fix layout bugs that were there already and just didn’t happen to show on previous hardware. I’ve found many of such little bugs and made improvements that serve other devices just as well 👌

Pasi Salenius @pasi.infosec.exchange.ap.brid.gy · 19/09/2026
It took almost no effort to get Proxygen support the Duo. It’s all based on native UIKit components with little customization so this mostly just surfaced bugs I had to fix anyway.

Pasi Salenius @pasi.infosec.exchange.ap.brid.gy · 19/09/2026
My custom bottom sheet now supports iOS versions from 15 to 27 including the Duo. It aligns itself correctly at different size classes and has 120hz animations. I prefer using it over the native sheet presentation as it gives me full backwards compatibility and control over its behavior.

Pasi Salenius @pasi.infosec.exchange.ap.brid.gy · 19/09/2026
You can tell that Apple has put their A team on the Duo project. The simulator in 27.1 is surprisingly stable and full-featured. They’ve been working on this for some time.

To balance the negative with something positive I do think so far iOS 27 feels like a major improvement over 26. There were some small strange fixes I had to do for my apps but nothing major. On an OS level it feels much more lightweight and faster!

Next year macOS San Francisco will break the mouse cursor following your finger on the trackpad. And US media will hail that release as the new coming of Macintosh.

macOS 27 Golden Gate (the one many praised being awesome) has trouble selecting table rows when you click them. This is year 2026.

Has anyone else noticed MKMapView freezing when the device is offline / in airplane more? I don’t mean the app freezing, everything else still runs fine, main thread is not blocked, but the map doesn’t respond to touch. You toggle airplane mode off and it comes back alive.

The most interesting thing to me from yesterday was ArrangementViewController. I already had something very similar (a stack adjusting its axis based on aspect ratio) but I’ll be replacing all of them with Apple’s version. That new API was very neat.

I mean, if you went all this time without ensuring your app works in different sizes of iPad split views and slideover, or more recently in a resizable iPad window, you have yourself partly to blame. Much of this is not new.

I don’t think I need to do anything for my apps to support the foldable Apple phone. They already have dedicated layouts for compact and regular horizontal size classes and align everything using safe area insets. I think I’m good to go!

It makes me sad to see someone who is a Mac app developer complain here that some indie app has bugs or doesn’t work the way they expect. Send feedback to the developer. Tell them what doesn’t work and help them figure it out. Work with them instead of announcing to the world that their app is […]

1) I go through the trouble of making it nice and easy for users of my app to manage subscriptions and request refund. 2) Users ask a refund more often for my app. 3) I do not profit. I think I got this whole thing backwards.

Ironic that right after Apple completed a transition to a UI framework that allows coding views in just a few of lines of code, we invented a way to write thousands of error free code in minutes. Ample amounts of code is not a problem, it’s an asset - it’s what gives AI context to work efficiently.

It already takes less than a day to build a better version of App Store Connect iOS app. If web security did not get in the way, there would be a betterappstoreconnect.com that builds a better UI over Apple’s API. GitHub style OAuth (connected apps) would allow this but they won’t do that.

While returning to X is the wrong move (the bubble that used to exist isn’t there anymore), trying to sell anything here on Mastodon is a fool’s errand. It’s simply not built for that. Easier if we don’t confuse those two things.

Apple, remind me again why we should use your buggy system components when we can build our proper ones just as easily. We’re both using the same Claude to generate this stuff. Some people just put more effort into it.

As the number of apps approaches infinity the number of users for each approaches zero (or one as there’s always the developer). Future is about personal apps. We all have our own.
