(Except for when I do it because I'm just acting instinctively and people call that "nice" and is it really meaningfully nice if I'm just like that naturally rather than choosing to be nice? Because other people think and work and my not doing those things cheapens it a little, in my mind…)

Is that why your mother is nice to people? I dunno, I just don't accept myself as "nice" and it seems to make the people who think I'm nice uncomfortable, so turning that idea inside-out feels like what you're describing and I think both people ARE nice, because it's still a choice to be nice?

No, but like, you're doing it because you want people to think you're nice, and a nice person would just do those things and wouldn't be bothered or want to be doing something else because nice people don't have those feelings about being nice, they just ARE nice, right?

#FirstDraftFall The main story for Raising Little Missy takes place in the 1980 and 90s: cars and landlines, maybe a pager. Video rental stores and casual smoking in restaurants. The time travel is "ancient, barely-understood magic" that doesn't represent how most of the world works.

Whatever way you shape it, bake at 375 F until the crust is hard to the touch and the entire bread shrinks a little, about 20-45 minutes. Let sit for a few minutes, then cut and eat.

Coat the ball in oil and cover with a wet cloth or dish towel for 3 hours. You now have the dough. You can plop this in a greased bread pan and bake this as a loaf, or flatten it out to use as pizza crust. You can wrap it around hot dogs for a pretzel dog, or wrap meat and cheese for a hot pocket.

The recipe, in case anyone wants it: 1 tsp salt 1 Tbsp sugar 2+1/4 tsp active dry yeast 2 Tbsp corn oil 4 Cups flour 1.5 Cups warm (not hot) water Mix sugar, water, salt and yeast. Stir in flour 1/4 Cup at a time, mixing and kneading into a dough ball.

It's been a long while since I last made bread. I did so this evening. It's truly amazing how a little oil, sugar, salt, yeast, water and flour can combine to make something comforting, light and tasty. The jam my friends gave me really brought it all together.

And there are places where the same frames are used 3-4 times in a row (those wiggling robot fingers...). It's smooth and crisp, and your eye doesn't even pay attention to the static elements unless you know to look. I like that effect, and it's the kind of thing one can do by hand with a light box.

So, kind of a neat trick that I always liked about 90s animation: notice how few elements actually move in each frame? A lot of the time, it's just the mouth or a couple parts on a static robot, with most of the scene static or panning (implying they drew a larger scene and scrolled the camera).
