Ooh, a #WIPSnip game! Hm... I think this does a solid job of showing some of Cindy's personality without telling? It certainly goes a long way with Nolan and Greg. (From the rough draft for Moth to a Candle)
"Hey, Mr. Lewis? Um, line 42 doesn't add up."

Greg looked over, then checked his math on a nearby calculator. Sure enough, he'd missed a number several lines earlier.

"Ah, you really are my guardian angel. Thank you!" He replied, grasping my hand with both of his. I felt like a child by comparison, and his warm, sweaty palms left me feeling clammy and gross. Nolan slipped up behind Greg and whacked him on the back in a way that might have been a little rough for a playful pat, and Greg promptly freed my hands.

"Easy there, Greg. 'Harassment takes many forms' and all." Nolan said, reciting from one of those awful corporate training videos. I slipped back out of Greg's workspace as Nolan glared daggers into Greg, who smiled back in spectacularly creepy fashion.

Well, boys will be boys, I told myself, and finished gathering my things to leave. It was pouring by the time I reached the bike racks, and I grumbled a little as I unlocked my bike.

Y'know, something like this?
My Text over DarkBugArt's comic.
Panel 1: a man wearing a collared shirt and slacks sits at a table, feeding a baby from a bottle. Toys are visible in the foreground and another bottle sits near the man. A woman wearing a black catsuit sits in an open window nearby, posed to imply she entered through the window.
Him: "Ah, you're here!"
Her: "As I'd said I would be."
Him: "Can I leave this one to you, then?"
Panel 2:
The woman stands before the man, bending over and planting a foot between the man's spread legs.
Her: "You won't be needed for the next part."
Panel 3:
A close-up of the woman's face with pursed lips staring down at the baby's forehead. The baby looks curious and the woman's eyes look incredulous.
Her: "..."
Panel 4:
The same close-up scene. The woman looks up with a questioning face. The baby looks away, concerned.
Her: "Why does my meal smell smoky?"

Given how my roommates talk about me, I had to see what the "Full" questionnaire looks like, and apparently it's still not super confident, but does think I'm from Iowa with PNW roots. Which... yeah, fair: I can see where it's going with this. mydialect.us/quiz-full.html
Results of a more complete dialect test which indicate I speak like someone from Iowa with 51% confidence. This one indicates two belts of probability, one centred on Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada and Arizona; the other on Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. A region of especially low probability centres on Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi.

Ooh, the #WIPSnip game! From Moth to a Candle. I don't think this is how real-world HR would handle things, but we're in fantasy land, so why not? 😅
"Well, sure, but the audits always conclude quickly enough, and it's not like anyone does flawless work the first time." Greg replied, his smile not really reaching his eyes

"Miss Davis does," a honey-sweet, warm voice replied, and the ice in my stomach instantly melted. Ms. Grint stood behind Greg, fixing him with a stern look. "While I'm grateful you helped her through this, I'd also like to see you paying more careful attention to your own work."

Greg blanched and nodded. "Perhaps she should look over my work, help me spot the errors more quickly?"

"I'd have to give her part of your pay for that, you know. She'd be doing your job as well as hers."

"That doesn't sound too bad to me, really. I might like... the challenge?" I offered, trying to hide how much a few more per hour would change my living situation. It would be nice to afford some real meat with my salad. The outburst got a warm smile from Ms. Grint.

"Well, Miss Davis, I'd be delighted to see you taking on more. Let me pass the option by HR."

This is from one I was originally going to submit to the upcoming #WeeknightWriters zine (after the brainstorming session, I settled on a very different story, and this one will be better if I have more room to breathe with it anyway) From the opening scene of Raising Little Missy:
Missy screamed as she ran to the older woman.

"Wait! Missy! Are- are you okay?" Missy cried, her hand coming away from the older woman's head slick with blood. "Stay with me! I'll get the-"

The older woman raised a hand, placing it on Missy's arm. "No, this... this is it. I'm sorry, Missy. But this is how it ends."

"No! Not like this!"

"You can always make a different choice, when you get here. But let me see you smile, one last time."

"I... I love you." Missy replied, smiling and kissing the older woman's head, holding her as the warmth faded from her body. Missy cried, wailed and grieved. How long, she wasn't sure. The beautiful day and sky seemed to be mocking her, joy around her taunting her pain. She had died, and nothing could change that.

Yay, a #WIPSnip game! A snippet of Cindy and Em waking up. This is probably not going to survive my first round of editing, but I enjoy this exchange entirely too much.
And it did indeed interrupt, far earlier than I anticipated. Em still lay, out like a light, as the sun began to peek through the blinds on the window and straight into my eyes. I grumbled as I rose, sliding carefully out from under her arm and heading to the kitchen to prepare some breakfast. Thirty minutes later, I had fresh pancakes ready and warm, with gooey butter and berries from Em's fridge. I gave her another ten minutes, then slid into the bedroom to wake her up.

"Em. Hey, come on, sleeping beauty: we have work soon."

The response was a moaning grumble.

I bent down closer, placing a gentle kiss on her cheek, and insisted, "Em. Hey. It's morning. The office is waiting."

"Mnnnh, I'm literally your boss, I'll just call us in sick."

"Don't you dare! I worked hard to get where I am; like hell I'll accept time off for (something redacted). Up. We're both still professionals, and both going to keep earning our places in the world." I replied, and picked her up in a bridal carry. She squeaked a little, but as I brought us into her shower, she began to fully register what was going on.

"No, no don't-" she began, then screamed bloody murder as I turned the knob and cold water sprayed us both. She continued to protest as the water warmed up, until I put her down and grabbed a bottle of body wash from the shower shelf.

Another #WIPSnip game! Hm... most of Cindy's direct conflict is major spoiler territory, but you can have this conflict between Nolan and Alissa!
but I still wanted to comfort him. I reached out to hold his hand, and something small and green landed on the back of my hand, causing me to withdraw.

It wasn't part of the spruce shrubs around us: it looked more like broccoli. But Nolan's chicken didn't have any veggies with it, and my own sandwich was made of lettuce, tomato and shredded cheese, so it wasn't part of-

Another bit of green hit me, and I looked around for the source just in time to catch a third bit in the face.

"Ow, my eye!" I said, and Nolan hopped up to reach over the shrub and grab a furious-looking Alissa by the scruff of her neck.

"I can't believe you took her to our spot!" Alissa fumed as Nolan quirked an eyebrow at her.

"I wasn't aware we had a designated spot, Alissa. And if you phrase things like that, Cindy will get the wrong idea."

"Oh? And what idea is that? That we-" Alissa began, and Nolan smacked her across the mouth. She went silent with shock.

"I tolerate a lot from you, Alissa. That is not the same as my being a doormat. Who I choose to take lunch with is my business, and if you intend to join us, I expect you to remain professional."

"You hit me harder last night," came Alissa's reply, and I shrugged it off to put away my sandwich. Either she was trying to get a rise out of me or Nolan, and either way, it wasn't my business. This had officially rolled into "drama" territory, and I wanted none of it.

"Look, thanks for the company, Mr. Johnson, Miss Clark. Enjoy your..." I gestured vaguely between the two of them, "and I'll see you both back at the cube."

An ominous quote, eh? #WritingPrompt
When I returned to my studio, I found a note taped to my door. A simple envelope had my name in script: Cindy Davis, with no address. Inside was a photo of me from Wednesday night, rejecting Greg's offer of a ride home. A simple notecard along with the photo read, "You do well to avoid his rides, but keep your health in mind."

Well, that's not creepy at all.

Another day, another #WI0Snip game! Show your MC unfurling a new and surprising side to themself. "Hostile Work Environment" indeed.
"I'm just-"

"Aw, just doing your job? Don't make me laugh, you're just getting ideas about who you are and what you can do."

I wasn't sure what she was getting at, but my hands were sopping wet and I was getting tired of her blocking my path. She moved to shove me, and something inside me broke a little. I ducked her shove and wiped my wet hands on her flowery blouse, drawing a gasp of shock and indignation.

"I know what I can do, Miss Clark. Now-" I began, and Alissa's knee caught me under the chin, hard.

It's a #WIPSnip game! Show a snippet of your MC being afraid or struggling with fear. Poor Cindy is having A Day. But surely this is the worst she's going to face, right? ...right? 😬
"First time with an audit? I'm something of an old hat at them by now." Greg said, leaning over my shoulder. I jumped a little at his sudden voice and invasion of my personal bubble, and he chuckled. "Hey, no need to be jumpy. It's just me." He said, putting his large hands on my shoulders. Well, more like "around" my shoulders. And part of my arms. Was Greg always this big? I knew he was round, but having the weight of his meaty mits on my shoulders along with Alissa's ominous words suddenly had me on high alert.

Calm down, I thought to myself, He's just Greg. Nice Greg, who offers rides I'll never take and stinks to high heaven of unwashed clothes. He's just Greg.

"Well, I think I'll get the audit done better without you literally holding me back?" I said, laughing gently and tossing him my best smile. It probably came a little thin from fear and shame, but he smiled back at me, laughing as he patted my back and sat down next to me.

Y'know what? I'm down for this #WIPSnip game. From my sapphic slasher, Moth to a Candle:
I only knew one other person: I pulled Ms. Grint's contact card out of my purse and gave her a call. She picked up on the third ring, her honey-sweet voice crackling a little over the phone line.

"Hello, this is Emily."

"Hi, Ms. Grint, it's Cindy. Sorry to call you outside of work, but... I'm kinda scared and don't know who else to call."

"Cindy, it's no trouble at all. What's bothering you?"

"Well, somebody left me a creepy message and a photo on my door, and I just... Ugh, I dunno, maybe I'm overreacting, but like—"

"Cindy, your safety comes first, always. Would you like me to meet you there? How can I best help?"

"Yeah, for now can you meet me and look at this? I can't make heads or tails of it and just... don't want to be alone."

"Of course, just tell me where to go."

Oh heck, I forgot to post the redeems from last stream! I have a few redeems that cause me to stop what I'm doing and write something. @ezelybored.bsky.social redeemed all three, so... here you go! (Haiku: Write a haiku / Limerick: Write a Limerick / Cool story bro: write 100+ words)
Haiku about Azzy:
A man with dad vibes
And a charming voice and smile

Limerick about Eze:
A girl with a passion for meme
And sometimes a glow that's extreme
She's got challenges, sure
But her feelings are pure
And she's trying to hit all redeemsAn Adventure about Ezelybored
One day, Eze woke up and chose violence. She picked up her mace, strapped it to her back, and wandered out into the world in search of someone with a sufficiently smashable problem.

After a short while, she came across a distraught shopkeeper.

"Oh dear, I have such large rats in my cellar, and no way to handle them! Whatever shall I do?"

Eze rolled her eyes, pulled out her mace, and strode down into the cellar. There, she found the rat was far larger than she'd expected. Its teeth were long as her arm, and its body filled most of the cellar.

"A big rat," Eze remarked as she brought the mace down between the rat's eyes. It squealed and huffed, then ran away, never to be squeaked from again.
