One of the cool things about having an 8 year old is that you’ll find a Lego snake hanging from a lamp and think to yourself ‘now why did he think to put that there?’ Whilst simultaneously listening to him sing ‘fart, fart, fart, fart…’ to the tune of Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy’ in the other room…

Fair play Matana! Good things come to those who wait. I’ve been giving a class about coin coin to students since chapter 1. I do some parts of chapter 1 and some parts of the most recent chapter. Chapter 5 is a great one to talk about, and I also get to bring in ‘Atlanta’, so no rush, no rush 😂😂

TY… by the same token it’s not a poem, but I once inadvertently saw Benedict Cumberbatch read/perform Sol LeWitt’s letter to Eva Hesse in front of an audience, and it was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen…

Just booked my blood donation appointment on the website www.giveblood.ie - v quick & easy to do. If you can do it, it is really the easiest way to make a positive contribution this month! You just lie back and then get a bag of Taytos to recover! Win win! 🩸 @givebloodireland.bsky.social

Did you know there is a trade union for academic staff?

Join IFUT
UCD Branch
Open to all teaching and research staff
https://www.ifut.ie/
Email: ucd@ifut.ie

Why join a union?
• Strength in numbers! Collective bargaining results in better pay & conditions for workers
• Get support with contract issues and workplace disputes
• Defend academic freedom
• Offer solidarity to colleagues in less secure roles

I know difficult to choose out of almost infinite possibilities, but Purcell OR Bach, Schubert OR Dvorak, and I would seriously question the relevance of Bernstein to 21st century Irish students. Would free up 3 pieces right there. Stick in ‘nothing compares 2 U’ and you can talk about production…

Delighted to see Linda Buckley featured, and that is a cool piece that students can learn from. don’t know Beoga outside of Ed Sheeran context, so I’ll reserve judgement, but I think everything else is retrogressive. They had a chance to diversify & blew it. I wonder who acts as consultants on this?
