Sarah Davachi Discusses The Will of Tongues
In a new Bandcamp Daily interview, Sarah Davachi discusses her use of duration, her rejection of “ambient” as a description of her work, and the philosophical and literary ideas informing her music. She also reflects on receiving the Venice Biennale’s Silver Lion and her early attraction to the organ’s capacity to sustain sound. Her new album, The Will of Tongues, arrives August 28 on Late Music. The two-and-a-half-hour work combines historical pipe organs with voices, strings, microtonal brass, Renaissance flutes, and tape.
