Interesting, when researching information the Claude app on my iPhone fetched a webpage directly from my phone, then uploaded that page to the Claude API.

Anthropic may not have intended to write an excellent ad for GLM 5.3, but that's what they did. www.anthropic.com/research/glm... Unlike Mythos, I might actually have a chance at using GLM for defensive research. Anthropic didn't reply to any of my requests for Mythos access for use on OpenSSH.

GLM-5.3 and the spread of advanced cyber capabilities
GLM-5.3 can autonomously build end-to-end cyber exploits, but unlike other frontier models, it was released without meaningful safeguards to limit misuse.

It’s so obvious security teams at the big labs have little input or influence. They have some great folks but it’s not showing in their incident/risk reports and public statements. Philosophers with a tenuous grasp of security are dominating their security discussion and strategy.

Is there any hope of moving Signal's libsignal from a AGPL license to MIT/Apache @meredithmeredith.bsky.social? Signal could help bring solid E2EE messaging to far more products. Small and midsize businesses can’t afford a commercial licence, while MLS remains extraordinarily complex to deploy.

One month later, caches have run dry in the U.S., the hot war in the Gulf is spreading, and prices at the pump are rapidly rising with diesel at all time highs. There continues to be no sign that any of this will end, and I suspect it continues worsening rapidly in the near term. 1/
Today at the pump (AAA, Sep 8): diesel $5.90/gal, +26.9¢ on the week and +$2.20 on the year; gasoline $4.15. That is above the highest diesel price this weekly line has recorded ($5.810, Jun 20, 2022). AAA is a different daily survey from the weekly EIA series drawn here, so the two do not match to the cent; the print that settles the record lands Sep 7. EIA weekly US regular all-formulations retail via FRED (GASREGW) and US No 2 diesel retail via FRED (GASDESW), as of 2026-08-31; the dashed line is the pre-war gasoline price plus the Brent move at the 42-gallon arithmetic ($1/bbl = 2.38¢/gal). Gasoline and crude move together week to week — correlation largest at lag zero (r = 0.74) — but only about half a crude move reaches the pump inside the week (1.30¢ per $1/bbl). Diesel spiked harder than gasoline — $5.65 on 2026-08-24, 193¢ over its pre-war base, against gasoline's $4.50 on 2026-05-11 and 159¢ — reflecting the tighter distillate market. The fuller version of this view is the pump card further down this tab.

Europe is behaving like a fire brigade and Russia is an arsonist. Europe thinks success is putting out the fires. Russia measures success by whether it can keep lighting fires.

AI alone won’t save your company from AI. There are going to be some painful & expensive lessons learned over the next 6–12 months. Genuinely innovative AI security products are already being sold, or expected to perform, as silver bullets for problems that require strong foundational security.
Deploy frontier AI

AI makes sophisticated cyberattacks much cheaper

Sell AI agents to defend against AI agents

Nobody fixed IAM, patching, asset inventory or basic security hygiene

Put in simpler terms, when a frontier LLM generates a vulnerability patch autonomously, there
is only a roughly 1 in 4 chance that it will do so successfully. There is a roughly 50-50 chance
that it will fail to fix the original bug, a 1 in 4 chance that it will introduce a new bug in general,
and nearly a 1 in 20 chance that it will introduce a new security vulnerability specifically. As
such, the expected value of a fully LLM-generated, non-human-reviewed patch is a
net-negative by a considerable margin.

Many fear the consequences of a Russian defeat, but the risks of Russian aggression continuing are greater. Unchecked aggression leads to more aggression. If aggression is allowed to succeed, more nations will conclude that only nuclear weapons can guarantee their security.
