AI should not be given access to audio production because they will recreate the Bene Gesserit Voice and command humans to kill themselves.

Well, happy Charles Darwin is “very poorly today & very stupid & hate[s] everybody & everything” to all who celebrate, because he wrote those words in a letter to his friend (and author of Principles of Geology) Charles Lyell 161 years ago today

Here it comes... the large coronal hole is almost directly facing Earth now, which means fast solar wind is 3-4 days away. In fact, NOAA SWPC has just issued a G1/minor storm watch for Oct 2. This means there are chances for mid-latitude auroral displays Thu and Fri nights. #heliophysics

"But there is one problem even more serious than that," he whispered ominously. "What is it?" gasped Milo, who was not sure he really wanted to know. "I'm afraid I can tell you only when you return. Come along," said the Mathemagician

There's a lot of money off balance sheets on all sides that has to start moving next year, and they desperately need a story why not paying the loans isn't their fault.

For AI the problem isn't insiderness. It's that they are quite insane and the risks they want regulated are straight out of 50 year old SF. On top of the general lack of Software regulations.

Wall St will always come as close to the line without going over as allowed. Even there, while CEO may want the general framework relaxed, and more risk allowed, Compliance is taken super seriously, and the details come a lot from industry.

CEOs and lobbyists tend to meet with legislators and maybe political appointees. Before MBAs ate the world, C-types were experts in their industry. Airline safety regulations were demanded by the airlines, and were pretty good.

I was satisfied with the Spider Noir ending, definitely a complete story. Wonder Man was a complete story but ends leaving me really wanting to spend more time with the characters talking acting craft with each other. I'd watch either knowing they end.

Regulatory capture is a real thing. But really, most of the time, an industry is full of people who want real regulations and have the expertise to help define and enforce them. That doesn't mean they could be voluntary. Or that they could just do it themselves. Have you met people?

"Hear me out, we all agree to cancel Monday..." 📷️ Paul Browning
A pair of Kestrels huddle together on a mossy branch, their heads tucked close as if whispering conspiratorially to one another. The golden evening light highlights the intricate patterning on their feathers while the woodland behind fades into a soft blur.

I am suspicious only because it sounds like such an easy lawsuit to win. Data from EDM events had strobe effect seizures at 1.25 per 10K people, so, rare but not that rare. Multiple events with nothing done is how that McDonald's lost the hot coffee suit. Deservedly.

They're starting to vanish, too. Between costs and the younger generation not wanting to take on the family business. Italian deli is more like the pizza operations. Bagels are somewhere in between, since you do need a good sized kitchen, but specialized.

The image is of a four panel comic.
The first panel shows Sarah, the protagonist, working at a desk. A brain next to her says, "We need to take breaks!"
The second panel zooms in on Sarah's face. She is annoyed. She says, "What if I don't listen to you?"
The third panel shows the brain smiling.
The fourth panel shows the brain reaching towards a lever. The brain says, "I'LL MAKE YOU."

'AI "super intelligence"' is a "rationalist" / TESCREAL article of faith. It's a risk like Roko's Basilisk. Existential risk is a term of art in AI. Pin anyone down on what they mean. If it means risk to the infinite future of humanity filling the local galactic cluster or human extinction, no.
