He/him. Pretty queer. Writer when I can actually focus, drone pilot, media enthusiast. Doctor Who stuff happens against my better judgement.

Extended cuts are old, but this specific franchise re-release hype building model is a new permutation

Disney already kept certain scenes of the Endgame re-release to only premium formats which is absolutely insane

Alternate cuts with additional footage are not a new thing. This specific franchise re-release model with this quick a turnaround designed to feed brand loyalty is.

Only a matter of time before execs start to push to cut scenes out specifically to reinsert for a second box office run, or to shoot extra cameos only ever intended for a subsequent money grab.

Once again proof that the "undecided voter" is an illiterate idiot the press should stop fucking credulously interviewing as the average voice of the people
NBC NEWS: One poll respondent – Aidan Valenzuela, a 19-year-old Texan who doesn't affiliate with either party – told NBC News that he hasn't plugge d into the election yet and is still unsure whom he'll vote for. But he said his father grew up during the Cold War and that he's wary of Democrats who describe themselves as democratic socialists.

"Any relation toward socialism or communism in general gives me the ick. It's like a buzzword that generally just makes me not want to sway in that direction," he said.

A bunch of fans are mad that it's not a direct adaptation of the games starring games characters and is instead a side story about a new character so they've decided Cregger is disdainful of the series and so on. They're like legitimately angry. Actual hate campaign. They've not seen the movie.

Cregger's Resident Evil might just be the funniest movie of the year. Relentlessly nasty but in a jolly crowd-pleasing way. And not just with a deep love of horror and horror games, but of deeply stupid horror movie protagonists who excel at making terrible decisions in a way we all sadly might.

bleak but essential read
Navarro told us that she was "shocked to see the growing number of websites in the network and the huge variety of the sites themselves - from cooking and space blogs, to small business and war news." What surprised her the most, though, was how so many of the sites under BBM's umbrella are effectively
"indistinguishable from one another, publishing the same kind of first-person Al-generated stories around self-help topics aimed at people who are lonely."

Hell, put more of it in Legend of Ruby Sunday, some reveals would help fill the slack dead space.

It's a total muddle. He needed to take a moment and just explain his intentions in Empire more clearly, whatever they were - and I suspect I'm probably on the right track with that. It just doesn't come together.

I think you can just about see what Russell's probably doing with all this. The Doctor keeps saying this shouldn't be prodded or things would get fucked up, and then Sutekh blunders in and does.
020
Kevin @scribblesscript.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
That... would have been a lot tidier, yes. But then you lose the point of Doctor Who defeating a monster by baiting him about being too curious about a mystery that isn't really a mystery, which is clearly what Russell wanted to get at.

Kevin @scribblesscript.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Something about Sutekh breaking stuff by crossing the time stream and fixating on her origins innit

Kevin @scribblesscript.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
I think it's a consequence of RTD not being a very plotty or sci-fi writer and putting down a bunch of vibes to drum up mystery without a strong mechanical reason for it.
030
Kevin @scribblesscript.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
I think Who is always free to comment on other genres without them being tropes in itself. Who is rarely about itself. I don't think it fully works, but that's more from stuff like "hey the snow is a great image Russell but what do we mean by it"

Kevin @scribblesscript.bsky.social · 18/09/2026
I get that the plot mechanics are absolute gubbins but, bear with me y'all... every Russell Who arc is nonsense sci-fi plot mechanics, they just live or die on whether the emotions hit.

It's very funny that Russell T Davies wrote the Ruby parentage reveal out of spite for Rise of Skywalker, thinking Rey nobody was a better story, but Doctor Who fans are now convinced there had to be actually a bigger twist behind Ruby's parentage that got cut.

Honestly I have a soft spot for the biblical fable elements of it, but you'd need someone with a very strong understanding of and opinions on a lot of things to make a film that would be not even good but even just acceptable for public distribution.

underrated part of El-Sayed’s messaging strategy seems to be shaming journalists who ask dumb questions that play into right-wing frames. you can’t answer these in a way that satisfies them, but you can make it embarrassing enough that you impose a toll on asking.
Abdul El-Sayed: "Weijia, with all due respect, this is the third time you've asked about a Twitch streamer ... their whole game is to make us fight culture wars so that we don't pay attention to the fact the president has made $2.2 billion ... "

Buddy was never as smart or polished as I wanted it to be but it's pretty hard to fuck up "Barney likes to commit murder" and the beautiful, lovingly made practical effects are, incredibly, outshown by the child cast.
