"..policy promoting carbon capture as a climate solution “should be abandoned.” Even when carbon capture is powered by 100% renewable energy, they argue, there is an opportunity cost to not using that same clean energy to just replace fossil fuel generators. " environmentamerica.org/center/updat...

New study finds carbon capture ineffective and costly compared to investing in renewable energy
It would be cheaper to power the world with clean, renewable energy than to go all in on carbon capture and storage projects.

If any province had a grievance, it would have been NFLD when the cod fishery was shut down by the evil Feds, but I don't recall the question ever coming up at that time.

There was a follow-up question on the same topic on Alberta at Noon. The premier was not obligated by law to have this referendum on October 19, and the question regarding separation is all hers--it's not the question per a citizens' initiative. She lied.

1/ Wow The Walrus! What a cover for your issue on Alberta’s separation referendum. When Elon Musk says Alberta and Saskatchewan should join the US and that “Canada is not a real country,” Albertans must pay more attention.

Bigotry is one of the oldest & ugliest of trends: Huguenots, Koreans, homosexuals, Muslims, Tutsis, Jews, Quakers, wolves, Serbs, Salem housewives. Nearly every group, so long as it’s small and different, has had a turn, & the pattern never changes—disapproval, isolation, demonization, persecution.

The Environment is probably one of the few issues where the opposition could make effective criticism of the Liberal government at the moment, but the CPC all voted to ignore the environment and deny climate change so their credibility on the topic is nil.

Nenshi lives in Alberta. He has decided not to oppose the O&G vote in hopes of forming a bigger tent for the NDP. Time will tell if that was a good call. Time will tell if the anti-oil vote in Alberta stands by that decision in hopes for sanity down the road.

How does this end for the UCP other than as a smoking hole in the ground? Half their supporters disagree with separation, and the other half will eat Smith when the separation referendum fails. Do the non-seperatists stay with the UCP, or do they do the unthinkable and vote for another party?
