Excellent insights into how we receive news, and in particular news about separation. Well worth your team to read.

About the high-speed rail from downtown Calgary to downtown Edmonton. Does the project include a new crossing of the North Saskatchewan River? Edmonton already needs to replace the High Level Bridge (~$1.3 billion) How can we ford the river and afford fording the river?

propaganda /ˌprɒp.əˈɡæn.də/: dissemination of information—facts, arguments, rumours, half-truths, or lies—to influence public opinion. This one falls on the "rumours, half-truths" and "lies" end of the propaganda spectrum. Our tax dollars paid for this. Think about that.

Fun fact: Since Jan 1, 2019, Albertans have cast 7.245M ballots in general / by-elections. In that same time, Elections Alberta have cited four people with trying to vote when not eligible. 4. Of 7.245M. Also fun fact: Elections Alberta cited Take Back Alberta and David Parker 12 times. In 2025.

But that's exactly her strategy. Be all things to everyone while maintaining enough plausible deniability for detractors. And it's gotten her places. It's what led to her buffoonish Sovereignty Act and the pivot to Within A United Canada occurring nearly simultaneously.

Of greater importance: nobody is discussing the fact that a) if this was of such concern, why didn’t the UCP reconvene the Legislature for an emergency debate, and b) the government issued 21 OICs on Thursday. An election is coming sooner than we expect.

Interesting data from @davidcoletto.bsky.social at Abacus. Alberta is a province that “has been asked a question it did not want by a government it does not trust to answer it, about a country it is not prepared to give up, in the shadow of a neighbour it does not trust at all.”
David Coletto O @DavidColetto
The results of our deep dive into Alberta public opinion is fascinating. I really think people will find it incredibly valuable and insightful.
Here's my summary of what I think we found.
Alberta is a province right now that...
1, Judges Canada to be on a better track than Alberta
2 Feels more favourable to the federal Liberal leader to its conservative Premier
3
and...
Feels far angrier than hopeful about independence
4
Has been asked a question it did not want by a government it does not trust to answer it, about a country it is not prepared to give up, in the shadow of a neighbour it does not trust at all.Bar chart: Most Albertans say the province is on the wrong track; views of Canada are more evenly split

A number of recent news stories got stuck in my consciousness so I dug up some photos I took when I visited a suburb of Munich in 2019. Dachau. Dachau was a Nazi concentration camp from 1933 to 1945. The poor souls who suffered there were deemed unacceptable. Can we, generations later, learn?
