Veteran of many Labour Party and other conferences but nothing I've ever seen compares to 430-page final agenda of the Green Party Autumn Conference: autumnconf2026.greenparty.org.uk/std/page/fil... These are simultaneously not serious people and people too serious to ever hold political power.

A Green Party policy paper being voted on this weekend aims "for the closure of all prisons through systemic obsolescence"
Establish firewalls between all data collected or held by essential services and the police
• Repeal laws that criminalise survival, e.g. drug, sex work, migration and vagrancy laws
• End police presence in schools
• Scrap the use of pre-criminalising orders
• End the abuse of stop and search, especially the use of stop and search on children
• Review current police search and arrest powers
• Reduce the number of women and disabled people in prisons
CJ116 In the long-term, by implementing these policies the Green Party will significantly reduce and
ultimately eliminate societal reliance on the police; and end systemic discrimination in legal and
justice structures, aiming for the closure of all prisons through systemic obsolescence.
Structures of Community Justice
CJ117 Prevention of social harms, including crime, is ineffective in our present society, because of a
limited vision of what could be achieved by integrated policies designed to build a stable and just
society. While the baseline responsibilities of a Ministry of Social Justice will include the explicit aim
of reducing reoffending, it will still be impeded in achieving this goal without proper resourcing,
investment and coordination across multiple departments of government whose work also has a
direct impact on crime and other harmful behaviour.

Listening to #TheArchers podcast. They have a flashback to when Elizabeth was born as a “blue baby”, and the family is being very stoical. George’s actor: “The stiff upper lip approach.” Emma Freud: “Or those feelings were never allowed.”” That’s what “stiff upper lip” means, you stupid woman.
