What's particularly shocking about this is that 🇬🇧 Burnham made no mention of this in his announcement, and has refused to even acknowledge the impact on 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland. He chose to play it that way. A "UK" PM in name only.

“The question is not whether we can afford to remain within the Convention [ECHR]. It is whether, in an increasingly dangerous world, we can afford not to” Political liars and lightweights, like Badenoch and Farage, must never be allowed to take that risk. www.lawgazette.co.uk/commentary-a...
The Law Society
Gazette

In short, if Britain were to leave the ECHR, it would not be
'taking back control. It would be surrendering influence over the rules and institutions that help keep us safe.
The debate about the ECHR is too often conducted as though it were a choice between national sovereignty and international law. That is a false choice.
The Convention advances British interests because it reflects British values: liberty under law, democratic government and the accountability of power.
Walking away would not make Britain freer. It would make Britain weaker.

Our response to Andy Burnham's Labour Party Conference speech 💬 #TaxTheSuperRich
We welcome the Prime Minister's vision to bring hope back to our country and communities.
And we repeat our longstanding message: we're ready to play our part by paying our fair share, so Britain gets the investment it needs to make that vision a reality.
This country helped to build our success. So millionaires like us must be taxed more. It's our turn to step up first and help build a better future for everyone.

Big news from Labour Conference: the PM has announced the government's plan to scrap first past the post. Seats that match votes would change British politics for good, but only if it happens. I've added my name. Join me? action.electoral-reform.org.uk/page/201578/...

And the solution isn't to keep on unchanged, and force us to pay via e.g. a broadband tax. Public service broadcasting needs fundamental change. It needs democracy inclusion and governance by and for each nation.
