Later,while on a bike ride through the neighborhood, I saw where a driver hit a utility pole and sheared it in two places. This is in the NE108th Greenway. You can see a chunk of the pole in the road.

This morning I heard a crash and went out to find our little library sheared off at the base of the 4x4 post. I speculate a car sped through the chicane, overcorrected and hit our library. While I appreciate the effort, the chicanes are not preventing dangerous interactions with cars. 2/3

PBOT Installed chicane strips at the first of the year to try and slow drivers down. I’ve seen them be effective, but I’ve also seen drivers speed up to get through the center before an oncoming vehicle 1/3

Rubber speed bumps set an angle, on opposite sides of the street to attempt to slow traffic.

@pbotinfo.bsky.social These sign placements are making it difficult for two way traffic, and passing, on the Halsey overpass sidewalk. And between the cone staging & overgrown blackberries, there’s not enough room at the west end of the overpass two people. Cyclists or pedestrians.

Joined @bikeloudpdx.bsky.social for the last of the Bike Month rides. We took the lane on Sandy Blvd from NE 42nd to NE 7th. Bikeloud is fighting for Portlanders who bike, and pushing for bike lanes on NE Sandy--a street designated as a Major City Bikeway in the city's Transportation System Plan.

Learned yesterday that PBOT will be installing chicanes, like those in the picture, on our street to slow traffic. Anything that slows traffic down is welcome, but I would have preferred diverters. Anyone have experience with these?

Red lentil curry with sweet potatoes and spinach (and cilantro). We’ve been having a meat free meal at least once a week since new years last year. This is one of our favorites.
