Things that give me hope: ICE does not have the manpower to defeat Minneapolis, so there’s no way they’ll be able to intimidate enough polling places to make a real difference. There is no magic button to rig elections. Every special election since 2024 has Trump shook, and they *still* lose.

20-25 years ago during the skatepark boom, I was concerned what kind of effect it would have on skateboarding. Like, what skating will mean if 90% of it happens in a fenced-in designated area. A generation later, we’re finding out.

Just a passing thought, but I wonder to what extent the focus on Minneapolis is because in a very real way, the right wants a do-over of 2020 where instead of a broadly sympathetic public resolving to do more about racism for six months, they opened fire nationwide and ended organized dissent.
