No advert out yet, but I will recruiting a 2yr postdoc, start date autumn 2025, at @livunigeog.bsky.social soon. Lowland and upland peatlands, GHGs, DOM and water chemistry. Plenty of fieldwork. Feel free to drop me a DM or email if you might be interested, and please spread the word.

With the snow gone, it was time for our alpine peatland spring sampling. Collected: 150 exetainers with gas samples, and several kg of soil for the lab experiments of my student Sophie. Plus many (wild) plans for the summer sampling 🏔️

A brown looking grasland with a large mountain in the background. Two people are walking on the gras.

Three people walking over a hiking path with big backpacks.

I'm excited to have three thesis students (2 MSc, one BSc) working with me on alpine peatlands this year. Goal is to measure methane and CO2 fluxes every two months in a peatland near Lech, Austria, to get an understanding of year round fluxes. #peat

There's a postdoc in peatland biogeochemistry advertised on our project by Dolly Kothawala and Gustaf Granath at Uppsala University. I can highly recommend Uppsala as a place to live and work. www.uu.se/en/about-uu/...

A beautiful day on Monday for the first alpine peatland sampling of 2025! Our first time measuring GHG emissions in winter.

A woman is standing at the edge of a brown wetland area that is surrounded by snow and mountains. She is bend over and taking a sample.

A woman is standing knee-deep in the snow, with two plastic boxes in her hands. It is slightly sunny.

Cool video about our work in Alpine peatlands! #peat We saw highly variable methane emissions, with large differences even within 1 m2. In this video we mainly show the work of MSc student Tjorve, who experimented with injecting air into the soil. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jS4...

Methane microbes & processes at EGU25! Working on anything related to microbial methane processes? Submit an abstract to our EGU session. Redox, novel species, metabolisms, all very welcome. Difference to other methane sessions: not only flux/rate/emission focussed. Link: tinyurl.com/2mb8wnaa

I work on methane in lakes, wetlands and permafrost soils. I love fieldwork, and apparently, the alpine peatland we sampled on Monday loves me back!
