With the snow gone, it was time for our alpine peatland spring sampling. Collected: 150 exetainers with gas samples, and several kg of soil for the lab experiments of my student Sophie. Plus many (wild) plans for the summer sampling 🏔️

I'm excited to have three thesis students (2 MSc, one BSc) working with me on alpine peatlands this year. Goal is to measure methane and CO2 fluxes every two months in a peatland near Lech, Austria, to get an understanding of year round fluxes. #peat

I work on methane in lakes, wetlands and permafrost soils. I love fieldwork, and apparently, the alpine peatland we sampled on Monday loves me back!
