In sweet/serendipitous news, I just ran into one of the houseless youth I met recently and it turns out they live in my building through housing placement support 🥹 They told me the kids at the shelter are still talking about me because they’d never met a politician their age who’d been homeless 😭

One of the coolest things a Portland politician ever did was Jo Ann Hardesty saying we should use eminent domain to acquire downtown buildings if their market value is so low. Let’s stimulate the downtown economy by owning property & renting it out cheaply to businesses that do something Why not?
