What I'm finding my sort of path is is to be bored for 20-30 minutes doing menu shit to hop to the next story mission, then being happy and having fun for 15 minutes during large scale story-focused combat. I just don't see wanting to do this over and over for four main stories?

There's systems upon systems of _do this for XP/loot/recruiting and this is the right way to do it_ that are inherently not combat. Doing the not-combat routes of exploring the map and getting into skirmishes then pushes you into losing calendar time and getting into _boring_ fights.

I've really been trying hard to get into Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave and it's just not vibing with me. I absolutely love the combat, but it feels like the game is actively fighting against me being in combat. It has a very clear and defined progression path and feels funneled to that.

They discuss discs in here, and funny enough that's how Microsoft gets me back. I purely play physical because there's _enough_ for me to play while still collecting as a branch of the hobby. If MS keeps physical, I will go 100% back to Xbox and drop PS entirely, apart from dev needs.

Admittedly I _have_ but it's pretty rare ( <10 out of 3500+). I know that they have an inherent lifespan to them. It's also why I've got methods to do my own backups of everything that I have practical storage capabilities for which gets me way past the danger zone for rot.
