My kid has started a Letterboxd list called Killer Sweaters for films where the killer wears a great sweater and they've asked me to throw it out to Bluesky for more because "that's the kind of thing those weirdos like to do"

Haha hands down my favorite character on that show!

I cannot recommend enough following art bot accounts to cleanse your social media timeline, and particularly accounts that repost *weird* art. Suehiro Maruo is one of the greatest “erotic-grotesque” artists of all time. That is all.

Meet Backpack, your 2026 Fat Bear Week champion. Backpack is 20 years old, weighs about 1,000 pounds and got his nickname because, as a cub, he loved riding on his mom's back across the Brooks River.

The serious one: Akira Kurosawa’s Ran. A film only an older, more jaded Kurosawa could have made. The fun one: Eastern Condors. Sammo Hung & Yuen Biao firing on all cylinders in a movie that moves between puerile comedy, war movie, & James Bond with the most jaw-dropping action scenes of all time.

Atamifuji seemed like he had that one, and then Fujinokawa dumps him at the edge at the last possible moment to win by sukuinage (beltless arm throw). The Buff Baby ends his sekiwake debut at 11-5! #sumo #sumospoilers

In another match that pits two of my favorite Large Sons against each other, Hakunofuji marches Roga out by yorikiri. Both have losing records but had impressive fights, so I doubt they’ll fall too far down the basho. #sumo #sumospoilers

Takayasu vs. Fujiryoga was a match designed to hurt me—two of my favorites against each other in a Darwin match, no less—but that was a great win by the Snowman! #sumo #sumospoilers

Kayo beats Old Man Tamawashi (bummer), to join the juryo yusho playoff! Kayo is 11-4. (Also nice to see Tamawashi might be back up in makuuchi next basho!) #sumo #sumospoilers

True, but I’m pretty sure this is how it works among the steppe peoples. After all, what kind of leader has no exploits to boast about?

Just past the hallway point and Onosato is in the lead at 7-1. Somehow *eight* guys are tied for second place at 6-2 (Toshinofuji, Kinbozan, Asanoyama, Ura, Atamifuji, Fujinokawa, Churanoumi, and Kotozakura). Looks to be a fun second week! #sumo #sumospoilers

Onosato beats Takanosho with relative ease, bringing his record to 7-1. It’s a sign of how badly the yokozuna have been doing that I’m relieved to see ‘Sato winning again with his (not terribly exciting) “meat wall” brand of sumo. #sumo #sumospoilers

Churanoumi beats Kirishima by oshitaoshi (frontal push-down). Churanoumi is a wrestler I haven’t paid too much attention to up until recently, but he’s really turning into a force on the dohyo. #sumo #sumospoilers

Holy shit, I don’t know how Ura pulled that off! (And from the look on his face, I’m not sure Ura knows, either.) Ichiyamamoto has Ura at the edge when somehow Ura grabs his arm and tosses Ichiyamamoto out via tottari (arm bar throw). #sumo #sumospoilers

Shodai goes 0-6 the first week & then beats Ura & Asasuiryu back-to-back just to fuck up any momentum they were gaining. Shodai is like Roger Rabbit in that way—he can beat anyone any day of the week as long as it’s funny (or allows him to play spoiler; same thing, really). #sumo #sumospoilers

Old Man Tamawashi beats Daiseizan by oshidashi (frontal push-out) via nodowa, after basically trying everything else. (I was afraid for Daiseizan’s elbow after Tamawashi got his arm locked up, but he did not go for the kotenage after all.) Good fight! #sumo #sumospoilers

I was happy to se this win; I don’t want Aonishiki to go kadoban again (but I also want him to let that foot heal up; these are obviously conflicting desires).

Onosato pulls & slaps down a charging Gonoyama, pirouetting at the edge of the tawara. Not exactly what I’d consider yokozuna sumo, but a win is a win, and it is the logical way to deal with “one technique” Gonoyama. #sumo #sumospoilers
