I don’t feel qualified to weigh in on the Jacob Geller news beyond saying this: To do the work he did and move in the circles he was in without disclosure of the sexual assault he committed was a grave breach of conduct. People deserved to know and he chose to keep the secret.

I'm aware of the rape allegations against Jacob Geller, as well as the fact that his name is on a court-ordered list of UNC students disciplined for sexual violence. I've hesitated on whether to post anything about it, because the victim hasn’t been identified and I don’t want to participate in a retraumatizing conversation against their wishes. At the same time, as someone who has collaborated with Jacob Geller, I do not want my silence to be taken as endorsement.

For my part, I did not know about this and I wish I had. What justice and repair look like in cases like these are for the victim to decide, and I do not know their wishes or what accountability processes, if any, took place. However, strictly on a personal level, I’m uncomfortable having collaborated with someone who has presented himself as a nonthreatening feminist without ever disclosing his history of sexual violence to me or any other colleagues I’ve spoken to. I have no intention of ever working with Geller again. Beyond that, the person this happened to ought to be the ultimate authority on what happens next, and how they wish to tell their story if at all.

Just a thought I kinda needed to get out after playing destiny 2 for the last 6 years and about 3.5k hours in

You know, last night I just so happened to have gotten the “final” cutscene in D2. The cutscene was hopeful in tone, but in the context of why it exists in the first place was bittersweet. So it didn’t really hit me.
This morning waking up seeing the news of the massive layoffs of the devs for the game I came to love and bonded with friends old and new over…that hopefulness shattered and it finally hit me.
I cried, this game meant a lot.
I was patiently waiting for it to make its comeback and now I know it’ll never get that because of an industry run by greedy, incompetent, assholes.
For those friends, artists, devs and those of you who are all the above that Destiny introduced me to…thank you and I wish you all the best and I can’t wait to see what you do next. 💜
