Set up some of my minis and terrain to show off for my planned afterschool tabletop club. 6th grade students swarmed the table and stole a bunch of my shit. Fuck it.

I also shook ZakuAurelius' hand and that was cool. If anyone is interested, I made an archive of all the photos I took at the exhibition if anyone wants to look through them. Absolutley *wild* builds there. Worth the 18 hour drive xD

My daughter (12, autistic) will, from time to time, go out in the back yard and run around in circles as a stim. Today I saw her silhouette in the sliding glass door holding something... Odd. Turns out it was a dead squirrel.

Set up a @onepagerules.bsky.social Firefight table today just to get an idea where I stand with the amount of terrain for my afterschool club. It's coming along! Still a long way to go tho. Hoping I can host up to three tables!

A 4'x4' game board with lots of terrain on it - WarLayer modular buildings, scratch built pieces, Cold Brew Studios can terrain, some GW stuff, and aquarium plants from Temu. Miniatures by OPR and by @pipermakes

Terrain using Cold Brew Studios' STLs for using old cans. Quite pleased.

Three soda cans turned into wargame terrain using 3d printed parts.

Fuck. Took the day off, and get dropped an email that one of my students' stepbrother was shot last night and may not make it. This kid was a total knucklehead last year and the year before but he's really turned himself around this year. I feel so bad for him.

Took a day off to take care of my 85 year old FiL while MiL at chemo. Came back this morning to stuff stolen off my desk, from my shelves, and from my first aid kit. I feel betrayed. Worse? I have more days off coming for the same reason and all I'll be thinking about is a repeat of yesterday.

Post an image from a game you played as a teenager:

Ultima 5 on the Commodore 64. Crude 8-bit color graphics depict a party of five adventurers in a white-walled dungeon with purple stone floors, encountering a group of... gremlins, I think? And some boxes that are probably mimics.

Ten years ago today, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died, kicking off one of the greatest crimes committed against democracy when Mitch McConnell invented a pretense to deny President Obama a nominee, and everyone in power and media just shrugged and acted like he could do that.

But these fascists, like many fascists and other authoritarians, confuse the pageantry of violence for power - they imagine that the state with armed men walking the streets is strong. But only a weak government needs to put armed men in the streets to exert power. A strong government has no need.

Someone in my circles recently brought up a quote about Hope from the comic Freefall. I'd seen the quote before, but not known the source. Part of the conversation turned to recent political cartoons depicting Liberty. I thought of Watts' painting of Hope. So I drew a version of Hope... #hope

Freefall comic. I don't know much about it.

Panel 1:
Alien(?): The robots are scared they might become a threat to humans. Humans are scared for the same reason. Blunt is feeding that fear.

Panel 2:
Human: Fear is east. Fear is cheap. Instead of fear, we're going to give the people hope.

Panel 3:
Alien(?): Fear vs. hope. Hardly an even match.
Human: That's because you think of hope as something light and fragile. My version of hope has calluses and dirt under the fingernails and isn't past bringing brass knuckles to a fight.

Hope is a Symbolist oil painting by the English painter George Frederic Watts, who completed the first two versions in 1886. Radically different from previous treatments of the subject, it shows a lone blindfolded female figure sitting on a globe, playing a lyre that has only a single string remaining. The background is almost blank, its only visible feature a single star. Watts intentionally used symbolism not traditionally associated with hope to make the painting's meaning ambiguous. While his use of colour in Hope was greatly admired, at the time of its exhibition many critics disliked the painting. Hope proved popular with the Aesthetic Movement, who considered beauty the primary purpose of art and were unconcerned by the ambiguity of its message.

Hope, inspired by Watts and by Stanley. A female figure stands defiant, raising a fist with brass knuckles. She has curly orange hair, and wears a torn blue shirt, a leather jacket, blue jeans, and black boots. She is blindfolded by a bandage, and holds a guitar with only one string left. Her clothes and skin are dirty.

Pick up the nearest book. Turn to page 42 and post the second sentence.

"Perspective is more often associated with the drawing of architecture, large structures, and landscapes, but it can offer an interesting and useful method for making something look three-dimensional on a two-dimensional surface such as paper."

Did you know that there's a queer version of the hidden FedEx arrow?

Two fridge magnets next to each other. The left one is the trans flag and it runs right into the progress pride flag. The blue and pink stripes of the trans flag connect with their matching chevrons, and the white middle stripe connects with the white triangle, to suggest an arrow.

An angel? sits crosslegged facing away from the viewer, wearing jeans and with a shirt wrapped around her waist. Her wings have been crudely amputated, and pink/white/blue feathers are scattered about.

3. draw in figure with big blocky shapes overlaid
