Set up a @onepagerules.bsky.social Firefight table today just to get an idea where I stand with the amount of terrain for my afterschool club. It's coming along! Still a long way to go tho. Hoping I can host up to three tables!

A 4'x4' game board with lots of terrain on it - WarLayer modular buildings, scratch built pieces, Cold Brew Studios can terrain, some GW stuff, and aquarium plants from Temu. Miniatures by OPR and by @pipermakes

Terrain using Cold Brew Studios' STLs for using old cans. Quite pleased.

Three soda cans turned into wargame terrain using 3d printed parts.

After about a year off from painting much, printed a Gar by @pipermakes.bsky.social for my T'au proxy army. Still gotta print the other of the pair.

Post an image from a game you played as a teenager:

Ultima 5 on the Commodore 64. Crude 8-bit color graphics depict a party of five adventurers in a white-walled dungeon with purple stone floors, encountering a group of... gremlins, I think? And some boxes that are probably mimics.

Someone in my circles recently brought up a quote about Hope from the comic Freefall. I'd seen the quote before, but not known the source. Part of the conversation turned to recent political cartoons depicting Liberty. I thought of Watts' painting of Hope. So I drew a version of Hope... #hope

Freefall comic. I don't know much about it.

Panel 1:
Alien(?): The robots are scared they might become a threat to humans. Humans are scared for the same reason. Blunt is feeding that fear.

Panel 2:
Human: Fear is east. Fear is cheap. Instead of fear, we're going to give the people hope.

Panel 3:
Alien(?): Fear vs. hope. Hardly an even match.
Human: That's because you think of hope as something light and fragile. My version of hope has calluses and dirt under the fingernails and isn't past bringing brass knuckles to a fight.

Hope is a Symbolist oil painting by the English painter George Frederic Watts, who completed the first two versions in 1886. Radically different from previous treatments of the subject, it shows a lone blindfolded female figure sitting on a globe, playing a lyre that has only a single string remaining. The background is almost blank, its only visible feature a single star. Watts intentionally used symbolism not traditionally associated with hope to make the painting's meaning ambiguous. While his use of colour in Hope was greatly admired, at the time of its exhibition many critics disliked the painting. Hope proved popular with the Aesthetic Movement, who considered beauty the primary purpose of art and were unconcerned by the ambiguity of its message.

Hope, inspired by Watts and by Stanley. A female figure stands defiant, raising a fist with brass knuckles. She has curly orange hair, and wears a torn blue shirt, a leather jacket, blue jeans, and black boots. She is blindfolded by a bandage, and holds a guitar with only one string left. Her clothes and skin are dirty.

Pick up the nearest book. Turn to page 42 and post the second sentence.

"Perspective is more often associated with the drawing of architecture, large structures, and landscapes, but it can offer an interesting and useful method for making something look three-dimensional on a two-dimensional surface such as paper."

QRP with wing art? Was going thru a rough time with this one. Kinda glad I never finished it.

An angel? sits crosslegged facing away from the viewer, wearing jeans and with a shirt wrapped around her waist. Her wings have been crudely amputated, and pink/white/blue feathers are scattered about.

Picked up the MCP core set this weekend. Dangit, now I have to create a whole bunch more terrain, since the scale is different. However will I survive?

Quick knock-together of a MCP-scale building.

I built it in my dinding room... with a box of SCRAPS!
Seriously though, scrap material from my pile of matboard and foamcore, and a shit ton of double sided tape because I can't find ANY of my PVA.

In third grade I did a book report on Moon Of Three Rings, by Andre Norton. I haven't read it since; I remember a spacer getting hurt and having his mind moved into a native animal - a barsk? - by a local witchy person. I also recall writing it using GeOS on my C64 and using really obnoxious fonts.

Found a half finished drawing of my #CityOfHeroes main, Horizon Twilight, and decided to finish it off. Might redo it from scratch later if I can wrestle my ADHD under control... but its the first drawing I've been able to finish in weeks so that's something.

@dropout.tv My (autistic) daughter caught me watching Game Changer last week and has now made the Rulette episode her fixation; she's been watching it on repeat every. Single. Day. And acting out the rules (though she's editing her language 😀). Thanks, Sam and crew!

I think I finally have enough #wargame terrain for a game of #onepagerules Grimdark Firefight (their sci-fi skirmish game)... and strat cards & unit cards & deployment cards & orders cards and... Stormpride Sisters from DakkaDakka; Plague Marines from GW of course. Printed terrain from Warlayer.

Table view of a staged game of Grimdark Firefight by OnePageRules. Three Plague Zombies in the foreground are squatting on a command point (From the Jackals set). In the foreground are Plague Disciples unit cards by me, and some Orders cards also by me. In the middle distance are some Plague Brothers and a Plague Destroyer. A mix of handmade card terrain, GW plastic terrain, resin Warlayer buildings, and resin scatter terrain is all about. The board itself is made of foam tiles in a 48"x48" square.

Anole, maybe? A brown lizard with pale spot markings perched on a blue plastic pencil box.
