So uh. I just announced my new book and it’s my first narrative book in 13 years and it turns out that a medium number of people… had no idea I was trans? Anyway, whether or not this is new news to you, you should celebrate my birthday by pre-ordering one: arsenalpulp.com/Books/T/The-...

Pokemon Go has joined in the trolling of Mitch McConnell, I see.
A purple aerodactyl pokemon, mouth open and wings akimbo, bearing a striking resemblance to Senator Mitch McConnell especially around the uh jaws.

Every year as people are going back to school I think of this absolutely sensational essay by Tasbeeh Herwees about names. I think every teacher should read it, and also everyone who isn’t a teacher. I cannot recommend it enough. the-toast.net/2014/01/15/t...

Today I learned that Notre Dame Cathedral has held one wedding since the 2019 fire, and it was for the guy who spent 3+ years leading the carpenters fixing the roof, using 800-year-old methods down to cutting the new timbers with an ax, so now I have agreed with the pope twice in a year? Wild times.

Nerdily, I think think this is because Mamdani’s team conducted strength-based research - they also asked people what they’d LOVE to see happen, not just what was aggravating. Then a team went and figured out which ones of them could be accomplished within the current budget and: win after win.

My new little hobby is that every time I see someone on social media complaining about their library being closed Sunday or having to buy 14 glue sticks I remind them that this happens when the city/town cuts the school or library budget, again, so they can give more money to police for equipment.

I am having a hot bath because I’m fighting a cold. While soaking, I finished the water in my glass, and then had the thought that I wished I could stay in but I really needed a drink of water. So I would obviously need to get out. Of the bathtub. To get water. (The cold may be winning.)

When my children sass me, I just remember that as a child who could not keep my nose out of a book, I got many scoldings about watching what I was doing. Once my mother was particularly aggravated and I said yes, she should go complain to the other mothers about her child that won’t stop READING.

Francis, teaching his graduate seminar in coziness. Enrolment opens soon for his summer intensive, rolling on your back in a cool bed of clover.
A very a very dignified looking tan dog with a black muzzle dog is curled into a circle on the couch. His head rests on a mustard coloured yellow cushion, and over his head is a faux fur fuzzy blanket. He looks a bit ridiculous but very cozy - he picked his head up just as I raised my camera, in case it was peanut butter.

Little wins but Troy Kostur looking hot (without additional context) in the Bottega Veneta ad wrapper for the Sunday NYT about the poetry of gesture qualifies I think.
Famous Deaf stage and screen actor Troy Kostur looking hot and broody in a fashion portrait. His hair is long, he’s wearing a black suit, and his famously large and quick hands are stacked under his chin.Big text reads The Poetry Of Gestures and above there’s some woven leather sleeves.

Book cover for ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬Thunder Song: Essays (Sasha Lapointe, Counterpoint LLC) The author of the award-winning memoir Red Paint returns with a razor-sharp, clear-eyed collection of essays on what it means to be a proudly queer indigenous woman in the United States today. Drawing on a rich family archive as well as the anthropological work of her late great-grandmother, Sasha taqʷšəblu LaPointe explores themes ranging from indigenous identity and stereotypes to cultural displacement and environmental degradation to understand what our experiences teach us about the power of community, commitment, and conscientious honesty. Unapologetically punk, the essays in Thunder Song segue from the miraculous to the mundane, from the spiritual to the physical, as they examine the role of art—in particular music—and community in helping a new generation of indigenous people claim the strength of their heritage while defining their own path in the contemporary world. https://www.counterpointpress.com/books/thunder-song/Book cover for Special Topics in Being a Parent: A Queer and Tender Guide to Things I've Learned About Parenting, Mostly the Hard Way by S.
