I had a lovely weekend at Conspiracy, a convention not for playing games but for writing them. I ran an impromptu workshop on writing horror scenarios, a planned one on self publishing, and learned how to make books. I had to leave early though, as on Sunday I was running a nalbinding workshop.

I tried to fill in the Questing Beast RPG playstyle survey, but unfortunately the majority of my answers ended up being 'it depends'. Because the campaigns I've been running recently are Pathfinder 2e and Monster of the Week, and these are not the same play style at all.

I'm contemplating the awful prospect of a change of career. I know genAI won't last and there will come a time when there's a need for software engineers whose minds haven't been poisoned by it. But that time is not now. Trouble is, software is the only thing I do well enough to get paid for it.

Since I was already ordering a bunch of stuff from Dungeonland I thought I'd try out a Pathfinder Deep Cuts miniature. I'm impressed. Pre-primed and super easy to paint. Reasonably priced too. Look at this little guy.

While the pack of eclipse glasses I bought did come with phone filters, my phone wasn't up to the job. Fortunately my husband and his massive camera did rather better.

I went goth in 2020. Freed from the need to look professional in an office, I realised I could just dress in clothes from Spiral and EMP all the time now. I don't really like makeup but never leaving the house sorted out the pale look just fine. Still don't like Fields of the Nephilim though.

Highlight of Continuum day 3 was the archaeology talk on horned figures on Anglo-Saxon artifacts, accompanied by replicas of the Sutton Hoo helmet and other exciting stuff.

Replica of the Sutton Hoo helmet. Shiny silver embossed panels and gold detailing. Mega bling.

Afternoon game at Continuum: Matrons of Mystery. Gladys, Violet, Doris and Nettie got sent off to Pearles holiday park by their concerned relatives to avoid them getting mixed up in any more village murders for a bit, but naturally they managed to solve a murder anyway.

Moonwashed College Halls was pretty much exactly what I was hoping for from a CJ game about students in the 1980s. Laura had a lovely time at the Halloween dance, made good use of her astronomy skills, and kissed two boys, while helping solve the mystery of the haunted dorm.
