Tips? Engineer your life, new writers of #pretendpanel. People mostly can't "push through it" or "work harder" even in the short term. Curate and cultivate your environment, figure out what your workflow is, measure your output, and don't lie to yourself. Also: publish. Don't sit on your work.

wait is this ex-FBI guy saying defund the police 👀 because that's how I'm gonna read it as lol
Effectively policing white supremacy also means limiting the role of police. Instead of expanding law enforcement authorities and resources, our nation should invest in and empower the communities impacted by white supremacist and far-right militant violence. Responses must include restorative approaches to hate crimes and far-right violence, which can help rebuild the social cohesion that white supremacists are trying to destroy.

The British government gaslights us by claiming it is “progressive” to militarise borders. If the British government were keen to stop migrant exploitation, it could work with other countries to provide safer ways for people to migrate and stop enabling wars/genocides in other places.

The wildfires and the genocide raise the same question: how much pain and suffering are we willing to inflict on ourselves, each other, and our world before we do anything different? How bad does it have to get? I deeply fear the answer to that question.

I just had a revelation.

Mr/Mrs both come from latin "Magister" (master, teacher). Which comes from PIE "magis" (great)

The proper, gender-neutral title to replace Mr/Mrs/Ms ought to be MAGE.

Mg. for short.

(Not exactly what you're asking, just too good not to share)

it's also worth noting that if your brain goes "but if we just have the right people doing this, people who have the right class consciousness and who are genuine and earnest about it all, it'll work", yeah they did and no it didn't and the streets ran red with blood.

That's genuinely what happened. Certain journalists wrote pieces saying, "We're not sure but some kids might possibly be harmed by the current treatments, maybe, no proof tho." And that turned into momentum for laws that were almost instantly proven to be harming the exact same group of children.

The earliest known records of people prescribing what would come to be called HRT for kids are almost 100 years old. The regimen we have now was mostly perfected by the 1980s. Jules Gill-Peterson’s Histories of the Transgender Child was hugely revelatory even for ME.

In 2025 (less than 30 days away), PayPal will start selling your transaction history for targeted advertising. I very highly recommend logging into your account and going to Settings > Data & Privacy > Personalized Shopping. If you're reading this, turn that off RIGHT NOW before you forget.
A screenshot of PayPal's terms of service. Big wall of legalese text, which I will be pasting in below. You don't need to read it, here's the important part:

"The key update to the Privacy Statement explains how we will share information with merchants to personalize your shopping experience and recommend our services to you. Personal information we disclose includes, for example, products, preferences, sizes, and styles we think you’ll like. Information gathered about you after the effective date of our updated Privacy Statement, November 27, 2024, will be shared with participating stores where you shop."

Here's the whole paragraph:

We are updating our Privacy Statement to explain how, starting early Summer 2025, we will share information to help improve your shopping experience and make it more personalized for you. The key update to the Privacy Statement explains how we will share information with merchants to personalize your shopping experience and recommend our services to you. Personal information we disclose includes, for example, products, preferences, sizes, and styles we think you’ll like. Information gathered about you after the effective date of our updated Privacy Statement, November 27, 2024, will be shared with participating stores where you shop, unless you live in California, North Dakota, or Vermont. For PayPal customers in California, North Dakota, or Vermont, we’ll only share your information with those merchants if you tell us to do so. No matter where you live, you’ll always be able to exercise your right to opt out of this data sharing by updating your preference settings in your account under “Data and Privacy.”

Got asked tonight, coincidentally, about how to respond to ICE if they show up to the migrant soup kitchen where my mom volunteers, so I pulled examples of a real search warrant (LEFT) vs an ICE arrest warrant (RIGHT). [Source: projectsouth.org/wp-content/u...
Screenshot of a search and seizure warrant issued from a United States District Court. The warrant is signed by a judge, has a time limit (14 days), and references attachments that reference a specific name and address.Screenshot of an ICE Warrant of Removal/Deportation, issued by the US Dept of Justice. This is a much simpler form that is not signed by a judge and does not authorize ICE to enter a private residence or business.
