Somehow I've just listened to Björk's 'Debut' all the way through for the first time. What an astonishing, fully realised first solo album. She knew exactly who she was right from the start, but she's kept changing and adapting. A lesson in that.

My family back home are worried about me going to Antwerp Pride in a week. Belgium hasn't announced additional police or security, but honestly I think the worst thing that could happen after Berlin is a chilling effect where the people who most need Pride stay away from it.

I have as big a problem with the people who won't pursue a neurodivergence diagnosis for their children when it's merited. I didn't test for one because I was told it would hurt my career, but I'm trans anyway, so there was always going to be something that did that. Testing early can really help.

Re new Charli XCX album, I wondered, is this the 'This is Hardcore' / 'Human After All' follow-up where music press names it genius then regrets later? We all had Brat at no. 1 on Spotify Wrapped in 2024 no matter if we listened 5x or 90x, but hey, at least they're doing this for a true artist.

As I left the apartment block to go to the supermarket, an old woman who never speaks to me was walking towards me. I put my head down, but she kept staring, so I gave her the biggest death-stare. I'm sure she won't reflect on her behaviour, but it made me feel better.

This aligns with a very real world financial planning issue: the stock market all world index typically tracks at about 9% and generic savings accounts track at 3.56% but normal people without fuck you money ought to just put savings in a savings account because in a stock market crashes you lose.

I dreamed the entire premise for a short story on Saturday night, and I've been spending every available moment of my holiday since then writing it. I don't even know where most of the ideas and dialogue are coming from. The plot is just something that seems to go onto the page naturally.
