Somehow I've just listened to Björk's 'Debut' all the way through for the first time. What an astonishing, fully realised first solo album. She knew exactly who she was right from the start, but she's kept changing and adapting. A lesson in that.

My family back home are worried about me going to Antwerp Pride in a week. Belgium hasn't announced additional police or security, but honestly I think the worst thing that could happen after Berlin is a chilling effect where the people who most need Pride stay away from it.

I don't understand it. Stephen King doesn't have time: he knows he's got another 5-10 books to show people before he dies. Why isn't she gripped by that same need? Does she really just think, "oh well, Harry's done, I can't do any better"? If I spent that much time on social, I'd be a wreck.

Sure, the label has a legal right to say "make a third album as per your contract or sit and rot," but I happen to think what their then-shareholder said invalidated that, because it turned the label into a toxic workplace. I can't believe this has dragged on for four years.

The first album was much more interesting than the second, but this all seems to date back to her refusing to lay back and ignore Matty Healy's racism in 2023. No workplace dispute should result in an artist being refused the chance to work. She only gets one career, and it's dwindling away.

It seems to be the time when they trusted the whole band to work together. I always got the impression that Damon was Kinks/McCartney adjacent, while Graham was listening to The Stooges, The Fall, etc. Think Tank was good, but it was like a Damon solo album (though oddly nothing like any Gorillaz).

Blur have to have one of the most varied catalogues, given they've released both Song 2 and also The Ballad of Darren, which feels like their Arctic Monkeys easy-listening phase. I feel as though Self-Titled was Graham's baby, as much as any album they released was.
