I got something along the lines: since you have all the single cell data why not look at all the pathways and all the cells instead of focusing on a couple of pathways that you have preliminary data to show said pathways are involved and the grant is feasible?

Done it in the past for more egregious comments than this & nothing was done. It’s a very time consuming & energy demanding process & my previous terrible experience reinforced it’s not worth dedicating time I’d be using to work on a resubmission 4 this. I’m glad you had a better experience though!

Precisely. Although the other 2 reviewers placed my grant in their ‘top’ pile, this one placed me at the bottom and ones bottom and 1 lower score is enough to get one out of the race… so my grant wasn’t discussed

Dear reviewer, I AM the expert! This is the most unhelpful comment from my #cihr grant. I guess all my training in vascular biology since undergrad (+MSc, PhD, 2.5yrs postdoc, 13 years running a lab in vascular research) and several publications on the topic not relevant?!?! Bring back f2f reviews!
