Our 💻x🧫 collaboration @saravasconcelos.bsky.social @uhnresearch.ca with ATOMS lab @utoronto.ca is out on @pnasnexus.org. We showed the correlation ⛓️ between the local variability of interstitial flow🚰 and the dimensional variability of microvessel 🪢 across different size scale in vitro. Enjoy 📖!

🚨 How do mechanical forces shape a developing organ? Our new #ScienceAdvances @science.org study, led by the amazing @cvagenapantoula.bsky.social, reveals a Piezo1-driven hydraulic mechanism, where mechanical cues control cell volume to guide cardiac formation ❤️🐟 🔗 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

It was a great experience presenting 🗣️ my work on hPSC-microvessels at #EMBLCardioBiology 2026. I have learned 📝 a lot and connected 🤝 with many who shared similar interests 💡in blood vessel 🪢 and the heart🫀. Fired up 🔥 to transplant and test my microvessels now 💪🏼

Big energy at this week’s Project #MaVen meeting! The meeting was a real reminder of what makes MaVen special: interdisciplinary collaboration. Whether it’s bioengineering, stem cell biology, bioethics or computational science, innovation happens at the intersections—and our community thrives there.

Today we celebrated Chao’s last day with cake and laughter. She worked for 2 yrs in my lab and Mike’s lab contributing tremendously to our large animal studies-and even had twins along the way (though my campaign to name them Mike and Sara failed!). Best of luck, Chao - you will be missed!

Should biology put complexity first?
The dictum “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler” poses a problem for biology. How simply can it be told without doing damage to its complex nature? The answer might be foun...

Is endothelium a type of epithelium? I am @icfortunato.bsky.social & I would like to discuss this with a short🧵 focused on cell-cell junctions, specifically adherens junctions.
