Ice-mediated interfacial membrane synthesis of cargo-independent microcapsules
Nature Synthesis, Published online: 01 October 2026; doi:10.1038/s44160-026-01164-8An ice-mediated interfacial membrane synthesis method is reported that exploits the quasi-liquid layer on ice to form polyamide microcapsules with programmable dimensions and cargo-independent encapsulation. The resulting compartments combine broad cargo compatibility, tunable permeability and robust confinement, enabling efficient compartmentalized biocatalysis and multienzyme cascade reactions.

Pre-print of some of our latest work is now up, where Megan has been leading work to make porous cages with mechanochemistry, aided by 3D electron diffraction. Another collaborative effort with @ajfletcher.bsky.social and others not on bluesky. chemrxiv.org/doi/full/10....

Developing efficient mechanochemical routes to porous metal-organic polyhedra, supported by 3D electron diffraction | ChemRxiv
Metal-organic polyhedra (MOPs) are the porous molecular counterparts to metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). While mechanochemistry has been successfully applied to a wide range of MOFs, this synthetic approach has found more limited use for MOPs. Herein, two ...

Perhaps you've heard of MOFs or COFs? Now there's PAFs – porous aromatic frameworks – and they're much tougher than their cousins. And they're showing promise storing and releasing CO₂ with a flash of light.

What if complexity was already built in — just waiting to be released? In our latest @science.org, we show how COFs can selectively excise organic macrocycles with precision. A chemistry that reveals what’s already there. Clip-off Chemistry. Link: www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Do you know a UK-based wheelchair user who works in a lab and would be willing to user-test our prototype of what is believed to be the first-ever lab coat adapted for wheelchair users? Please share far & wide! Interest form: forms.office.com/e/66FhcQjqRT More info: www.ucl.ac.uk/ucl-east/new...
Two photos of Anna, a young white woman using an electric wheelchair, wearing a blue lab coat that fits her well with tables and dry-lab equipment in the background. Text reads: "A team of researchers and designers led by UCL is looking for wheelchair users working in wet lab environments to user-test what is believed to be the first-ever prototype of a lab coat adapted for wheelchair users."
