In a similar vein, I got a robot vacuum for Christmas and my young adult (21) took to programming it, scheduling it, and running it to the different level of our house. Just now though I got a notification that it's wheels were jammed. No one is home. Hope a cat didn't get too close. 🫣

This Fourth of July, I am taking a moment to reflect. Things are hard right now. They are probably going to get worse before they get better. But I love our country — and when you love something, you fight for it. Together, we will continue to fight for the ideals of our nation.

Are you me?! I keep buying them thinking I'll wear them, but when I do, I'm self conscious the whole day. I finally found a length of shorts this year that really suits me, so I'm going to take that win.

I understand that. Bins are a great idea.

Oooh, I should've read more carefully. I think interfiling the graphic novels is a great idea. Our organization is heavily suggested at a district level, so I don't know that I could try that, but I really do hope it goes gangbusters for you.

My library was genrefied two years ago. My students responded so well to it. I wish you tremendous success with it!

We were just a bit farther west on 100 S. We heard the gunshots, but thought they were fireworks. Cops ran past us saying get out of the area or in to City Creek. Makes me sad that such a vibe is now tainted.

This thread was beautifully written. I feel so much of this as I have shrugged off a religious tradition that no longer fit.

2.5 years ago I, as our school librarian, was contacted by the author of this book because there was a Moon Tree near our school. My students and I were captivated by this information. The original Moon Trees were grown from seeds that traveled to the moon on Apollo 14. NASA restarted the 1/2

A freshly planted Douglas Fir sapling with a plaque that tells about NASA's Artemis 1 mission and a book called Moon Tree.

Text of the voicemail I left for John Curtis this morning. Call your reps! I know it's scary, and honestly, why? He's just some rando like me. It gets easier the more you call.

Senator Curtis

I saw what you had to say about the illegal firings of federal employees. The fact that you would so glibly pass this off as needed to reduce government spending is preposterous. Federal employee salaries make up a measly 4% of the budget. And that you then hide behind platitudes like compassion enrages me. We both know there are appropriate and legal ways to RIF federal empolyees and that is not happening.
Senator you said "the people voted for this". I assure you no one voted for Elon Musk. Stop being such a coward and use your voice to stand up to fascism and a man who now apparently thinks he's king of the US.

It's been a lot of years since I read it, but I think Gerald Lund referenced this in his book Fire of the Covenant. He has the bishop of Blanding saying "sticky tootie" or something like that in his Scandinavian accent.

No, this is the King of New York

A still from the movie Newsies. It’s an image of Bill Pullman looking very *1992 interprets turn of the century journalist.* Floppy hair, bow tie. He’s portraying Brian Denton, a writer who covered the 1899 newsboy strikes. He’s referred to as the “King of New York” in the movie and also in my heart.

I do not believe that books can be nutritious, or bad for your health. I do not believe that books can have ages or genders. But I do believe the books we love are the ones that make us readers - and I do believe every reader should have the right to choose what they read. #books #literacy

My school got a SPED unit this year. These kids have my heart, and I believe more than anything that they deserve to be here. Unquestionably, it is benefitting our mainstream students.

Why does this shelf display feel subversive?

A shelf of library books in and elementary school featuring titles about The U.S. Constitution, voting, and elections.

The school where I'm a librarian got a self-contained SPED unit this year. Today, one of my kindergarteners, who doesn't speak, laid himself across my lap for a snuggle while we were doing our closing fingerplay. 🥹🥰

Participating in a book study of Richard Culatta's Digital for Good and these two paragraphs from the first reading really hit me. I've deleted Facebook and Twitter in the last two months because of their lack of being this kind of space.

A picture of a page from the book Digital for Good describing why we need to care for our online communities and why our behavior there matters.

My FIL was a big covid denier and caught it and nearly died. He was hospitalized for a couple weeks and on super highflow O2. He did get vaccinated after he recovered. But he and my cancer patient MIL are not current now on covid, flu, or rsv. So, I understand! Sending lots of good vibes your way.
