Ooh hopefully I’m not too late for this! Void in Logan Square is my favorite Chicago restaurant right now. Tryzub Ukrainian in west town is an amazing vibe (get the Banosh). Mi Tocaya is truly outstanding Mexican food. Monteverde is amazing too!

Very cool!! Bottle gourds are Lagenaria, which in the same family as Cucurbita (our new world punkins and squashes) but a different genus and tribe. I knew Lagenaria were native to Africa, but I didn’t realize they were growing in the americas so early!

Ooh do you like Aveluk? It's not easy to find the type of sorrel they use in Armenia here in the US, but I have a recipe that works really well for hearty greens like beet greens or swiss chard.
