OpenOffice etc have existed for ages. The value is in corporate identity, assumption of liability and so on. The value of Microsoft is really in compliance processes not in application functionality. A company can sue Microsoft if it screws something up.

This is happening because the bears literally have nowhere to live and nothing to eat. Wildfires destroyed part of the forest, but even more was cut down. Since the beginning of 2026 alone, Russia has sold $2 billion worth of timber to China.

Today's jobs report is a reminder that tax cuts for corporations and the rich don’t create jobs or grow the economy. What's required is investment in working people — and better wages. When workers have money to spend, the economy grows and businesses create more jobs. Remember this.

Second conflict comparison of the day: Kosovo and Ukraine. I was a bit young to follow the Kosovo conflict, but I‘ve heard about the allegations of CIA interference. So on reality it started as a genuine grassroots reaction against Serbian violence, later international community got involved.

Thought of the day, correct me if I’m wrong: Compare the Russian reaction to the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in 2008-2013 to Brexit. Russia blocked trade with Ukraine during talks, which cost Ukraine 1.4 billion in lost trade export.

A campaign with the slogan "Russia is not my enemy" is currently spreading on X. You know, in reality, it doesn’t matter how you personally feel about Russia. What matters is what Putin and the Kremlin elites want to - and are able to - do to your country.

I watched the first speakers of the debate after VdL’s SOTEU: * I already didn’t trust Weber, and his problem is that he thinks short-term. He criticised ETS and has worked to weaken the Green Deal. While companies lost billions this summer because of the low water level of Danube and the wildfires.

I watched #SOTEU yesterday: Best part was on security and defence. A security council allows the MSs to discuss issues outside NATO. VdL also referred to Adenauer’s plan of the 1950s. This could be a significant step. I found the rest predictable or even weak. Deregulation is still on for sure.
