I’ve always said that there are only two and a half good found footage horror movies. ‘Paranormal Activity’ is the half. As a supernatural horror, it’s passable but unimpressive. But beneath that sits an effective psychological horror.

Everything ‘Hush’ does, it does well. Some things, ‘Hush’ does extremely well. Everybody involved turned in their A-game on this project. It’s an easy watch and plenty of fun - assuming you find horror fun. Go in expecting a simple good time and I can’t imagine anybody coming away from this one disappointed.

‘Heretic’ gripped me from the beginning with strong charactes and great performances. I followed them into a hell of one man's ego, tense and terrified as we traversed the film’s thematic layers. Only after it was done did I realise how breathless I was.

I can’t, on the balance of its merits, call ‘Children of The Corn’ a good movie, but I will happily and enthusiastically call it a fun movie

It’s October! It’s Halloween season! It’s time to get spooky! My first cinematic love is horror. I adore horror films as much as I adore films about women kissing (and don’t even get me started on the intersection of the two!) I didn’t start a horror blog because honestly there’s already way more of those than the world needs. But for one month only, the normal rules don’t apply and we’re going hard on horror!

‘Shifting Gears’ needed tighter editing both in its prose and its narrative structure. The novel spent a long time close to being dropped on my Did Not Finish pile. But the characters kept a hold on me long enough for the book to find its feet and really take off. Once it did that, it was a delight to read.

If we put aside what we want from the film and look solely at what it gives us, what we have is an all around well-made historical drama

‘Lesbiants: Our New Morphology’ is a game that has no peers. There are no other games like it. It’s a game that could only be made as a small experimental art project.
