Heartbroken by the passing of my former colleague Anwar Seikh. He is a giant of heterodox economics, and authored the masterpiece Capitalism: Competition, Conflict, Crises, and was an extremely generous colleague and comrade who truly believed in the calling of the New School for Social Research.

Those of us who work on contemporary France have long predicted some kind of social protest in advance of the 2027 elections. It could have been a gilets jaunes mk 2 related to high petrol prices, but instead it was school students. Some thoughts... www.lemonde.fr/politique/ar...

This is the best thing I have read on the Cornell rape case. Transgression, domination, and secrecy (hence impunity) is precisely the point of fraternities. It is a training in what it means to be a man in a world such as ours. It is not about (the lack of) regulation or education, but power.

I’m so sorry, but none of your solutions for fraternity reform are going to work
Fraternities are not failing at their purpose; they are succeeding perfectly.

I understand SCOTUS, know who they are, & by all rational accounts it feels so naive to say: "I can't believe 4 of 9 justices said the Constitution doesn't protect birthright citizenship." And yet, I can't believe 4 of 9 justices just said the Constitution doesn't protect birthright citizenship.
