Any chance the automatic refresh could be disabled/not default, @merriam-webster.com? It is extremely distracting when you keep a dictionary tab open as you work through a manuscript! #AmEditing

I actually really dislike the changes to how titles in apposition are styled in CMOS 18th (8.22). It's very unintuitive to me considering how these sentences are actually read and the logic behind it. Feels very wrong. #AmEditing
8: Names, Terms, and Titles of Works
8.22: Titles used in apposition
Chapter Contents / Titles and Offices

Unless it is separated from the name by a comma, a formal title used in apposition to a name should be capitalized when it precedes the name. (A title used in apposition is normally preceded by an adjective or an article that modifies or otherwise limits the title. See also 5.26.) This departure from the advice in previous editions aligns with common usage (and with 8.20) and will aid clarity in most instances.

the Empress Elisabeth of Austria
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz
the Argentinian-born Pope Francis
former President Carter
former Presidents Reagan and Ford
then–Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (with an en dash; see 6.86)

The amendment is now LIVE!!! The 17th edition was clear on this, but the 18th edition literally got rid of the one mention of this rule even though it was still supposed to apply. They've added it back thanks to moi 😎 Honestly props to the CMOS editors—they've been great! #AmEditing
A screenshot from CMOS 18th:

14: Source Citations: Examples
14.71: Journal page references
Chapter Contents / Periodicals / Journals

In citing a particular passage in a journal article, only the page or pages concerned are given. In references to the article as a whole (as in a bibliography or reference list, or in a full note that does not cite specific pages), first and last pages are given.

The phrase "or in a full note that does not cite specific pages" is highlighted.

We apologize for introducing a note of ambiguity on that point in the 18th edition and will aim to clarify things in the next edition of CMOS at the latest.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I actually don't think there's a three-album run more underrated than Joni's 90s output. I love every single one of these so much.
