"mayhaps the reason giant corporate social media is hellish is because Man is Plagued by Original Sin" that's cool Hobbes, I'm having a great time on the small mastodon instance my friend runs from her apartment a few blocks from me. today we picked blueberries in a municipal park, it was great!

offered what I think is a pretty good explanation if you're still confused about whether you need to have multiple mastodon accounts, how to find the stuff you want to follow, stuff that can be confusing about the fediverse basically

this week on Let's Talk About Stuff, we watch the obscure and under-discussed John Carpenter tv movie Someone's Watching Me!, a tense and charismatic thriller about a woman fighting back against her stalker. it just got added to the Criterion Channel too, so watch the new LTAS for a preview!

there's so much about this that's awesome, but folks is it good when apparent site infrastructure depends on one vibe coder blocking a literal third of your website's active daily user base? like 40% or so, is that a good amount of your users to block?

I'm more and more tempted to do weird remix/mashup stuff just on a hobby basis but so many tools that I think would probably be useful-to-necessary, like vocal separation, are now marketed as "ai", so I've got no clue what's actually reasonably ethical to use :/

I've seen other women worrying about an estradiol shortage, so I figured I'd pass on info I just got from my clinic today. there IS a shortage of the more common concentration of estradiol valerate BUT that's because of a combination of systemic factors not a pulling back of production or investment

Apparently a lot of insurance companies have switched to preferring the lower concentration in their formulary (because it's cheaper) and there's a big uptick in people getting on injections (possibly due to trans internal refugees) paired with our old familiar friend.... Supply Chain Problems

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN HOW A COMIC IS MADE, YOU MUST READ THIS POST. the amount of work zoe's put into Health Goth is amazing, and her breakdown of all the sketch phases and theory that went into it is the kind of behind the scenes coverage i live for.

What they're hearing is that the supply issues should be sorted by october or november but if you're having trouble it may be worth switching to a different dosage or formulation of estradiol. definitely consult with your provider on this though, I'm just getting info from one provider in Seattle.

hey, are you sure of the provenance of some of these sketches? a bunch of them have pretty intense artifacting, distortions, warped signatures, and smeared details that feel like they've been AI upscaled e.g.:

figure drawing of a nude man in what looks like pastel or charcoal, looks normal at a distance but when zoomed in there are numerous weird artifacts and tells common to AI generation
